Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch's
The Ultimates was responsible for Samuel L. Jackson being cast as Nick Fury and also heavily inspired the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first Phase of movies. Now, the acclaimed comic book writer has taken to social media to share his pick for who should be the next Wolverine:
Kingsman: The Secret Service and
Rocketman star Taron Egerton!
The actor has previously expressed interest in the role and, as a result, unfounded rumours have been swirling for a while that Marvel Studios might be eyeing him to replace Huge Jackman.
Well, during a recent interview, Egerton made it clear that it's just speculation.
"That one I think is just a rumour," he confirmed.
"As far as I'm aware it's unfounded. I don't know if I'm quite grisly enough. I mean if the people at Marvel think I am then great, let's go. But I think there are probably better candidates. But I would love to be involved with that world somewhere."
"Wouldn’t it be great if you could just start casting yourself in things by just saying them in interviews? I guess people have been asking about me and Wolverine, and I made a joke about [playing] Wolverine after being in a hot wash, like I’d been shrunk in a hot wash, and the internet seems to think that I was putting that out there on my dream board cosmic ordering system."
Egerton would be a fantastic addition to the MCU, and while Millar is simply predicting that the actor will be chosen to unsheathe the character's claws on the big screen, that's an endorsement worth having. The Kingsman star, meanwhile, would definitely be a good fit to play a younger Wolverine, and there's already a lot of Oscar buzz surrounding him for his take on Elton John.

Lyja
A Skrull with the ability to shapeshift into humans or animals, Lyja is unlikely to appear in next year's Captain Marvel due to the fact her origin is very much rooted within the world of the Fantastic Four. She managed to infiltrate the team by posing as Alica Masters and served as both an ally and enemy to the team. Assuming we see more of the Skrulls in the MCU, Lyja will no doubt get in on the action.
