Hugh Jackman On Darren Aronofsky Directing Wolverine 2

Hugh Jackman On Darren Aronofsky Directing Wolverine 2

I guess this really confirm confirms it! While speaking to Vulture, the Aussie actor said that the X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel would be very different with Aronofsky at the helm..

Vulture caught up with Jackman at the Elton John Enduring Vision gala last night and the actor confirmed that Darren Aronofsly would indeed be directing the Wolverine follow up. He also said this time around we would get a more thought provoking film..

"This is, hopefully for me, going to be out of the box. It’s going to be the best one, I hope. Well, I would say that, but I really do feel that, and I feel this is going to be very different."

When asked if Darren Aronofsky's penchant for dark drama might be at odds with this type of big budget action movie..

"This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He’s kind of dark ,But, you know, this is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects, has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue. [Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”

Jackman also added, while waiting for his meal to arrive, that a strict training/diet regime has begun to get into Wolverine shape..

“Expect to see four chicken breasts and a whole pile of steamed broccoli on my plate. I'm starting; I’m having my six meals a day."

Jackman has worked with Aronofsky before on The Fountain, in which the actor gave, in many people's eyes, the performance of his career as a man refusing to accept his wife's death. We expect great things gentlemen!

I kinda wish this would take place after the X-Men movies, and not Origins.I know it's a staple in the comics that Logan loses every woman he gets involved with.

But I want to see something different in the movies. He lost Jean in the Last Stand and he lost Kayla in Origins. If this takes place before X-Men, we know Mariko dies or he loses her, as he's alone in the first movie.

It would be very annoying, depressing and unfair to the character if he loses his woman at the end of every movie.

We don't need another prequel movie. They've answered all the questions we needed answered or didn't need answered. We know he isn't going to get his memory back, as he still has amnesia in X-Men.We know how it turns out.Just put this movie after The Last Stand, so maybe we can have some surprises. We can see some other characters we know.Maybe he'll be able to keep his woman.

Origins was one of those rare cases where the game is far better than the movie.
It had a better story, better action, and tied in with the comics better.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine wasn't a terrible movie and it was only really the poor way in which they handled most of the characters that bothered me. I loved The Wrestler, so here's hoping Fox won't [frick] up Aronofsky's career with a shit script and a dozen too many cameos. Not holding my hopes up though.

Sorry, cant be excited about any FOX CBM movie, I hated XMOW and I dont know why a sequel is necessary.

@Tazmaniak I like your thoughts there man. Another prequel would just run the same tired story lines, and a jump ahead in front of Last Stand would be way better

Wolverine was a horrible trainwreck of a movie. There were some cool scenes but at other times it very was hard to watch. Particlarly the final fight.

They messed up Blob, Gambit, Deadpool, and Maverick. I have probably left someone out. Those three would have been very easy to do. The movie version sucked ass.

It was cheesy, silly, boring and it was a lackluster take on a good story.

So all I have got for the sequel is cynicism.

High hopes!:)

In the first one there was good actors, lots of action, good director, but the problem was Rothman who decided to mix things up!... The movie failed because it didnt respect the characters of the comics!

"Oh...WOW! So THAT'S HOW we were SUPPOSED to be making these Funny Book Movies?!! Get Aronofsky on the phone, NOW!"

(FOX after the premiere of The Dark Knight in 2008.)

If I only knew about the X-men from the movies I imagine I would have enjoyed Origins tremendously. I still have hope for Wolverine 2.

x-men origins wolverine was shit, they should of just based the movie on barry windsor-smiths classic weapon-x story that was featured in the pages of marvel comics presents.

x-men origins wolverine 2 should be based on the wolverine limited series (japanese adventure)

the only things going for this movie is

1.wolverine is a great charactor.
2.darren aronofsky is great director
3.hugh jackman is good as wolverine

but you can't trust fox to deliver what we want so f*ck this shit.

hopefully it's not another logan and pals movie. Hopefully see the following

1) see wolverine doing what he's so good at, killing swarms of enemies (he didn't kill ANYONE in the first flick)

2) Hopefully wolverine will DRAW BLOOD

3) Hopefully it won't be all LOGAN and WOLVERINE will show up, (wolverine is the dude int he suit, logan is just the dude)

4) some berserker rage (not i'm really angry, but holy crap this dude may kill EVERYONE JUST BECAUSE.

5) Ninjas, ...cause everyone loves ninjas.

6) some decent fighting, dudes got animal keen reflexes, sense, and decades of spec ops combat training and all he seems to do is swipe his claws back and forth.

anyway, personally I'd love to see the whole series rebooted and start with WEAPON X.

should be at least some decent existentialism with DA at the wheel

AstroBoy - If we're talking "true Hulk" then the green guy wins ANY fight of brute strength for the simple fact that he get infinitely stronger and more resilient the more hurt/wound up he gets.

Oh, yeah and this Wolverine thing could be OK! I'm hoping this and First Class will be the start of a big shuffle in the FOX camp. But FOX's reaction on the Disney article doesn't do my hopes any favours!

You've got to ask WHY are they making this very different, its because they know they made SH1T first time around, and was lucky they didn't go tits up!

FRANK MILLERS Wolverine is the only way to go, shouldve done that in the first place!

I am so happy that this is getting made with Aronofsky as the director. I admit, I didnt really like Wolverine at all, then I rewatched it, and it was okay since it tied into the other movies.

Well, I if I should give it a numeric rating I'd give Origins about a 5-6 outta 10, and that includes 2 special points for Jackman and Schreiber as well as 0.5 special points for Reynolds as Wade Wilson.

Hooooopefully this one will be better. I mean, no, not better, cause that doesn't mean much, but actually a GOOD movie. The ingredients are in place: Character, Jackman, writer, director, all good to great. Now we have to wait and see how tasty a meal FOX serves us in the end...

Any director that puts the line...

"Ass to Ass"

...in his movie deserves a shot! I'll never look at Jennifer Connelly in the same way.....EVER!

All kidding aside, I hope they don't go OVERBOARD with the psycho-babble! Wolverine needs to be an action movie 1st, drama 2nd. I'm all for delving into what makes the man who he is, I just hope that in doing so they don't forget to SHOW us who he is...

...a fcuking BADDASS!
