While it was rumoured heavily by the actor last year, we now have official confirmation that Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier in the final Wolverine film. “Worst kept secret,” Stewart wrote on Twitter with hashtags for the character and film. The actor teased the appearance of the character last year, telling Collider “I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.”
In a more recent interview, producer Hutch Parker also confirmed the characters' inclusion in the story. “I will confirm Patrick Stewart is part of the film.” Parker also briefly teased that audiences can expect a very "unique" film. "I'm not going to tease much. [Director] Jim Mangold and Hugh [Jackman] were really intent on trying to do something unique and different with this, and that's what we're setting out to do. I'm not going to say how, but I'm hoping you guys will love it, it's really special." It certainly seems fitting to have Xavier be a part of Jackman's final portrayal of the character, given their time together throughout the franchise. The two actors were last seen together in 2014's X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The final installment in the Wolverine trilogy has been said to be inspired by the 'Old Man Logan' storyline from the comic books. Watch the full interview with Parker below!
