Wolverine Movie Re-Shoots

Wolverine Movie Re-Shoots

Canucks may see Hugh Jackman and company trolling around Vancouver in mid-January. X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be re-shooting some scenes there on the 12th...

While re-shoots are common, this news poses the question "What needs to be fixed?" Obviously, Fox needs to put a polish on the movie so the fanboys and girls will not be disappointed.

There are high hopes and HUGE interest in the continuation of an X-franchise under the "Origins" name, and on the flipside, disastrous potential for failure.

If X-fans come to see the final cut as avidly as they have been drooling over the theatrical trailer--just released on Monday, we're sure to see big box office bucks.

Here are just a few comments on the first trailer from an excited target audience, as posted in our reviews section:

"This is just the beginning for the origins series! It will bring a new generation into the comic book movie family. A lot of the younger generation do not know where all of the superhero's got started. And this movie will let them find out what we older comic book fans already knew. Thanks Marvel!"

"This looks soooooo cool! I wish Deadpool was wearing his mask though."

"Hugh Jackman is RIPPED! This is gonna be an awesome addition to the X-Films, and it should definitely guarantee an X-Men Origins: Magneto movie."

"Looks sick!!!! I can't wait to see Gambit on the big screen! The movie may not beat The Dark Knight but looks like it could easily be its closest competitor."

Okay, let's not get our panties in a missunderstood twist right off the bat here! They're talking about "the trailer" not the movie (in regards to Deadpool's lack of a mask).

And probably, the director whent to show exactly what the movie looked like to the idiots at Fox that wanted to "change" things behind his back, to make them understand finally that the director was right and that things need to be "re-shot"! Good boy!!!

Another movie i'm sure will be awesome. Again and again I will say it. AWESOME AWESOME! We begged for these movies to be made for DECADES and now that they are, people want to whine and cry about what THEY think should and shouldn't be in a movie they have NO part in. You know what I say to that? Waaaaaaaaaaah. Suck a teet people. Just watch the movie (or don't) and quit whining. Nobody is actually taking into account what you're crying about, so quit it. Ya know, if a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears it...

On the other hand, I do understand the point of a "Comments" section is just that, to make comments on how you "feel" towards a particular article or bit of information. But seriously? All the negativity coming from various people, and ALL about the same thing, it's amazing. Like Stan Lee is there, and he's watching this be made, ok? If he's not bitching about what is going on with (majority) his creations, why should YOUR opinion be any different?

On a lighter note, Jackman is awesome, and Shrieber will make a great Sabretooth. Ryan Reynolds is both hysterically funny and deadpan serious, since that's what Deadpool is, we've definitely got a match. YES, Deadpool will have the scars and mask...He's got to have his treatments, then be tossed into Killebrew's "Workshop". Since his name is Deadpool, they're going to have to refernce the "Dead Pool" game the inmates in the "Workshop" played...Unless they come up with something completely different for his name...

I don't think anybody is going to jump the gun on this one. I think Wolverine is going to be more faithful to the comics than the X-Men movies were.

I think you may be on to something Shaman. When I heard about what a FOX suit did to Gavin Hood's set when he was away filming something else, my faith in the film took a hit. Let's hope Gavin is undoing the retarded ideas the number crunchers have injected into the project.

Ion, I don't think they'll go into too much depth concerning Deadpool. They might mention the cancer thing but that's probably as far as they'll go. It's not his movie after all. If FOX's plan works and the character gets enough applause to get his own film, then we'll likely be treated to seeing Wade's story.

Let's just crush some hopes now. This movie will not even touch Dark Knight. Fans need to crush this at every chance or else all films will be DOA with studios on release day when it doesn't make a billion bucks.

Not every comic movie is gonna be the next Dark Knight.

I think WEAPONX is right. Judging by the trailer it seems that other than Sabertooth, Gambit will have one of the larger secondary roles. Can't really see how they are gonna properly develop Wolverine, Sabertooth, Gambit aaannnnnnddddd Deadpool.

But if Star Power is what your judging by, Ryan Reynolds should end up with move development than Taylor whatshisface.

I guess all we can do is keep guessing until it's released or someone steals a screener from under Hood's pillow...

When they mention Deadpool's mask its oneof many EASY tweaks they could have made to make the movie better, take gambit's eyes for example. ANY fan would know they're Black and red. In the trailer they werent. How hard is it to CG them like the did with Mistique in X-men 3? Not hard at all. My only concern for the film is if FOX is gonna 'cut' the crap outta it like they did all the other MARVEL films theyve made and make it short. like 90mins short. A good MARVEL film has to be at least 120mins to keep me happy otherwise the story moves to quickly. And when the DVD versions come out the extended ones are always FAR better.

I had no idea what Gambit's eye color is. I simply never cared to pay that much attention.

First X-Men movie got Rogue, Logan, Cyclops, & Jean over really well. It can be done again.

yeah i thought deadpool was pretty weak without the mask, all i saw was renolds in a red sleeveless outfit. I totaly forgot about weapon X-wolverine that would of been freaking tight. I also had trouble understanding the whole logan child with claws...is that going to be a metaphor. so what i got from the trailer was action hero i was kind of waiting for wolverine to say "i'll be back" . i just hope everything makes sense once all the pieces fall into place.

See now i knew, that people would go off on a rant because we saw Reynolds "maskless" for a fraction of a second. They never showed the mask in the trailer and the comments above stated the same as we did when we first saw it. These guys did not assist to a pre-screening, they saw the same "trailer" as you did, which showed [frick] all!!!

DrFever, no one is implying that Wolverine will be as successfull as TDK. Ironman, in my opinion was a better "adaptation" than TDK, even though it didn't make as much. The money it makes doesn't make it a better movie. Us "Wolverine" fans have a better chance of prefering Wolverine over TDK, even though the "general public" as well as "Batman" fans will dissagree. But that's "if" and only "IF" they stick true to his actuall origins. All that, will depend on the "finished" product and not on a 2 minute trailer.

And seriously... are we done yet with Gambit's eyes? His powers are accurate, his fighting abilites are accurate even his outfit looks remotely accurate. So he doesn't have his "costume" or his black and red eyes, big deal, are you guys gonna complain about the color of his panties now??? THEY'RE PURPLE, GET OVER IT!!! To me he just looks cool as hell!!! And he seems to kick ass at the drop of a dime too!!!
SGA
SGA - 12/19/2008, 10:26 AM
i agree w/ Shaman.

and i have one thing to say about Deadpool's mask.

We only saw one shot of him in the trailer...ONE SHOT!

how in the hell do you guys know that he isn't going to have a mask anywhere else in the movie judging by one shot in a less than 2 minute trailer.
IonParallax
IonParallax - 12/19/2008, 11:43 AM
WORD to both SHAMAN and SGA. Ya saw him for a second twirling swords. You may have seen a picture of him chained to the floor (I have) NEITHER of which showed his mask. Wow, for less than 2 seconds he doesn't have his mask, and ya freak out. I understand how absolutely coo it's going to be to see his mask in the movie. BUT, what if he doesn't have it?!?!?! BUM BUM BUUUUUUUM.Auuuuugh NOOOOOO!

Seriously, so what? Wolverine doesn't have his? I HIGHLY doubt they're going to show you Maverick in his Maverick suit. Sabretooth in the Brown and orange outfit? Don't think so. Maybe some allusions to that, but not the whole thing. I understand, Deadpool having his mask on is a big huge deal to you uberfans, but really, NOBODY else in an X-Men movie YET has had on they're costumes. Magneto and Juggernaut are the CLOSEST 2. Oh yea, Beast looked like Beast, how else could he look? But really, there may not be a mask, he'll have his terrible scars, BUT what if he doesn't have his mask? Are you going to wet the bed over it? I'm sure not, I know it's a part of his persona, because of his scars, but it's NOT Deadpool, it doesn't make him who he is, it is just a part of who he is. Even when he's not wearing it, he's still Deadpool, and even when it's on he's still Wilson Wade. So, I personally don't care either way. It would be sweet, just like breaking the 4th wall in a surveillance camera idea I had. But if it's not done, it so isn't going to ruin this for me. Nor is going to ruin Deadpool as a character or Ryan Reynolds as an actor.

Good point ION, no mask wouldn't suck me sideways at all. And for the movie, the first one with him in it, it would be normal IF he didn't have the time to sowe one up himself you know? Mabe he could go for a "Grifter" type mask at the end or something, tarin' up a t-shirt kinda deal, either way, it won't make me hate the movie!
IonParallax
IonParallax - 12/19/2008, 1:11 PM
Grifter, wow. There's a relatively obscure reference. Always thought he was cool. Oh well. That wouldn't make me upset either, I don't care, things change. I get it. I can deal with that. No mask, no foul. In my book.

Shaman - 12/19/2008, 6:44 PM
Yeah, i love Grifter, he's one of my favorites! His mask has always been one of the coolest!!! Jim Lee is a master!!!

as long as the re-shoots are not due to Fox wrangling in some last minute advertising deals... which wouldnt surprise me if it was...

imagine the scene at fox studios, we need to ad a scene with wolvie cooking wall's sausages on his claws, shaving with a philips electric razor and wearing ray-ban shades or even driving a mazda rx-8... (wait, they did that last one in X2...)

Logan x im getting a bit sick of hearing those silly arguements. ill say this one last time. the movie does not take place in the past, its flashbacks! some of the movie will be set just before the events of xmen 1. and why in the name of jesus h christ would wolverine be in a costume when he didnt start wearing one until he joined the xmen?

WELL????

cherryhill
cherryhill - 12/22/2008, 7:06 AM
okay, whoever it was up there that gambits eye colour doesn't matter...are you kidding me? his eye colour is a fundamental part of his character. he became part of the guild of theives because of his eyes. he was abandoned as a baby, because his eyes were not 'normal', and they brought him in and raised him as a thief. thats the basis of his character, he's a thief. you can't just say, 'it's just eye colour get over it'. no, when its a big part of the character and especially my favourite character, then yeah, it's important, it's a big deal
Shaman
Shaman - 12/22/2008, 10:25 AM
It's important to Gambit's origins but not Wolverine's. What i meant was that no matter what color his eyes will be, it still won't make the movie suck! And not only that but do you remember the line that Logan said in the trailer: "I know who you are Gambit!". Meaning Gambit's obviously hiding out conceiling his identity so mabe he does have the right eyes but he found out a way to hide them like contacts or something. You can't base anything from a two minute trailer! And seriously, if they do find some other way of making Gambit an outcast since birth (other than his eyes), it still wont make the movie suck! How about charging up his baby rattle and make it explode in his babysitter's face, that would be cool, his eyes don't matter that much.

Shaman, I think you're missing the point about Gambit's eye color. I doubt any Gambit fan thinks the lack of his correct eye color is going to ruin the movie or the excitement at finally seeing him on screen. Gambit having red and black eyes would show that those involved with making the film cared enough about the source material to add in one small, but important detail to Gambit's character, if only to please the fans. Like someone said, if they could go through the trouble of making Mystique's eyes the correct color, they could do the same for Gambit. Not doing so, to me, is a sign of laziness, but these are the X-Men movies. But as you also pointed out, there could be a valid reason for his eyes not being red and black. The question is: will the writers/directors/producers/or anyone at all will care to illuminate us in the movie?
