X-MEN Fan-Art Transforms Giancarlo Esposito Into The Villainous Magneto...AND Professor X!

We're not sure how long it's going to take, but Marvel Studios is working on an X-Men reboot, and that means we can look forward to new versions of characters like Professor X and Magneto.

While they both received the lion's share of screentime in Twentieth Century Fox's X-Men franchise, it's impossible to imagine a new take on the characters without these two stalwarts. It's true that Charles and Erik's stories have been told for the most part, but if anyone can find new places to take them, it's Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

A fan-favorite choice for both roles is The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito, and this impressive fan-art by ApexForm reveals what the actor might like like both as the X-Men's leader and the Master of Magnetism. Given his history of playing villains, our vote goes to the latter!

Sadly, Marvel Studios is likely still a long way off casting anyone in the eventual X-Men reboot.

@dracula - Ra's al Ghul. Never thought of that. That'd be interested.

@VicSage - he actually already voiced the character in Son Of Batman, was one of DC's weaker animated movies, but yeah can for sure see him as Ra's in live action

I'm not a stickler for race changing or gender bending characters so long as it remains true to the essence of the character. For some characters, their race and gender is actually integral to who they are, and any deviation from that is a betrayal to the character, in my opinion.

For me, Magneto's Jewish heritage is important to his character. Could they replace his Holocaust background with something else? Maybe, but to me, his Jewish heritage is integral to the character.

Wilson Fisk can be black. He can be white. He's a crime lord residing in New York. His ethnicity has nothing to do with his character. Magneto? That's different.

So, this is a no for me. Love Giancarlo Esposito though. But it's a no.

Let's just have Esposito play every character in the X-Men reboot.
From Jubilee to Mystique

@Blergh - I mean, technically he could end up being Mystique if she shapeshifts into him...

@AC1 - That' would be a cool twist a character being Mystique all along.

'...Marvel Studios is likely still a long way off casting anyone in the eventual X-Men reboot.'

I imagine the MCU's X-Men are put on the backburner for a while. I suppose the next few years will focus on setting up the successor Avengers roster for now, and establish other cosmic heroes (Richard Rider etc.)

I hope Feige has room to fit in Mutants and the Fantastic Four soon, not likely though.

If it was up to me, I think Chris Messina is an interesting fit for Logan. Instead of casting another traditionally tall actor like Jackman.

@GothamSon - Fantastic Four will be easy to add in, but yeah Mutants, they are going to need to take their time. Id say best choice would be maybe 10% of people brought back from the snap slowly start developing powers, before that it would have been a very rare thing, so that Professor X and Magento can have their history, plus wolverine. Can even retcon Quicksilver and Scarlet witch into being mutants, the stone didn't give them powers, it activated the mutant gene
