We're still waiting for Marvel Studios to introduce the X-Men, though the process of adding mutants to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has begun. Ms. Marvel and Namor have both been named as mutants, while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness even introduced a Professor X Variant.
Now, iconic rapper Method Man has decided to throw his hat into the ring, making it clear he hopes to eventually play the time-travelling mutant on screen.
Reflecting on sharing some photos back in 2020 in which he donned some impressive Bishop cosplay, the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur actor shared his love of the fan-favourite mutant.
"I was just putting it out there to see if I could hook something," he tells Cassius Life. "Those guys at the MCU, they know their stuff. I haven't had any problems with any of their casting choice so far. So whoever gets the job...I think Omar Sy did an excellent job as Bishop [in X-Men: Days of Future Past], but that was before MCU."
"If they chose him again, I think he'd kill it. There's a few people out there. But if they're willing to give me a shot, I'd go for it. Plus, I've done all the research already."
Actos frequently express interest in superhero roles, but hearing comments like that from legit fans always hits slightly differently. Method Man is also no stranger to the Marvel Universe, previously playing himself in an episode of Luke Cage.
He also voiced Ben Urich in the Marvels podcast and, if you're wondering why we mentioned his Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur credit in the headline, it's because the rapper had a standout role as Namor the Sub-Mariner villain Torg.
With Marvel Studios' X-Men plans a mystery to us, it's hard to say whether Method Man will get the chance to play Bishop. The character is, however, set to have a starring role in the upcoming X-Men '97 animated series.
Lucas Bishop first appeared 1991's The Uncanny X-Men #282 as a member of Xavier's Security Enforcers (XSE), a mutant police force from a dystopian future of the Marvel Universe. He travels to the 20th century and joins the X-Men, a team he knew only as legends. Bishop experiences difficulty adjusting to the norms of the time period, and briefly became a villain years later before seeing the error of his ways.
