Jeff Wadlow To Write And Possibly Direct Fox's X-FORCE Movie Adaptation

Yesterday, it was reported that 20th Century Fox is working on an X-Men spin-off focusing on the X-Force team. The studio registered a domain name three months ago, strongly suggesting the movie's development. Now, the film already has a writer and potential director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeff Wadlow (who most recently wrote and directed Kick Ass 2, which hits theaters August 16th) has been hired to pen the adaptation, "with an eye to direct." Longtime franchise producer Lauren Shuller Donner is also on board X-Force. Wadlow is also writing Columbia's adaptation of the Valiant comic book Bloodshot. Fox is expected to officially announce X-Force (and other X-Men related projects) at San Diego Comic-Con next week. What do you think of Wadlow tackling this film?

Dear WBs,

Fox just literally pulled a Marvel movie out of their ass and announced it.

Flash isn't announced....

Have to see kick-ass 2 to determine if I should be excited or not.

Good news, although, Fox needs to really dark and gritty on this movie or else it just won't work.

I'd prefer no Wolverine, because this should be an ensemble movie and not just "Wolverine and his team", but because it's Fox it's not going to happen. :/

Hopefully it's going with the latest version, with the mutant black ops concept, rather than the Liefeld version.

Those of you who create these X-Force related articles...
QUIT USING THE SHITTY LIEFELD ART!

There are many good images of an X-Force team without that terrible so-called "art".
It's embarrassing.

I'm seriously gonna be pissed if WBs doesn't announce a new DC film other than MOS2 or if MS doesn't announce a Hulk movie.

Marvel Studios, I understand you can't do Daredevil now but is a Hulk movie really that [frick]ing hard? Base it off Waid's run.

Seems like there's folks who want to see Cable's X-Force and others who want to see Wolverine's more recent version. I say they go with something in between. It probably needs a known character like Wolverine to help launch it, but make it more about Cable, Deadpool, Domino, Warpath, etc. Wonder who they'll get to play Cable? Someone old like Steven Lang or will they go younger (someone in their 40s or 50s)?

Just base the movie loosely on Rick Remender's run of the series.

Wolverine, Deadpool, Psylocke, Fantome, and Arc Angel. They may have to replace Arc Angel with possibly Cable, Shatter Star, Domino or Forge.
TheFox
TheFox - 7/12/2013, 2:51 PM
I guess I wouldn't mind if it meant a solid version of Deadpool, plus Archangel, Psylocke, and maybe (MAYBE) Wolverine. You know, the Remender team. But if it's going to be that platoon of losers lead by Cable (also known as "wielder-of-the-mighty-shoulderpads"), count me out.

The X-Men movies were successful because they streamlined the X-universe, making it accessible to the mainstream and the uninitiated. But if this franchise is going to spiral into the same cataclysmic mess that the X-Men books themselves have turned into, then what's the point?

Just add in Cyclops and or Deadpool to the above team up of X-Force and you top X-Men 2
