James McAvoy Reveals How Professor X Loses His Hair In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

During an appearance on the Graham Norton Show last night, James McAvoy was asked about shaving his head to play Charles Xavier in X-Men: Apocalypse. Pushed by the host for answers on whether or not there's a "good reason for why he goes bald" or if it's "really dull", the actor said: "He ends up going through something so horrible and painful that he literally half pulls his hair out half… it falls out. I just sh*t myself because I know, Fox Studios who own me might be angry with me for sharing that." Based on the leaked Comic-Con trailer, most of us had assumed this was going to be the case, and Professor X losing his hair likely has something to do with him using Cerebro to try and find Apocalypse, the most powerful mutant on Earth. What do you guys think about this explanation? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

As long as Apocalypse no longer looks like a Power Ranger villain, then we're good.

Once someone goes bald, I can't unsee the baldness when their hair grows back. It's like they're always wearing a wig to me now.

How about Magneto going gray? It's about time for Fassbender to start looking more like his comic book counterpart too in my view.

@ALmazing

If he is, I doubt it'll have anything more than a superficial impact on anything. I suppose they could get some interesting character stuff out of the revelation if they tried, but it'd probably need more setup than one movie can provide. Personally, I'd bet money on it just being a passing reference to shut the fans up, like the hint at Quicksilver's parentage in DOFP.

So, he's going to go bald ala Homer Simpson? The Fox-verse is all connected.

@Jackraow21

Agreed, thing is...Magneto was born with white hair. The movies have just went the realistic route for his hair color because he was indeed older. Mags should've had white hair in First Class to be honest. lol

So Fox is having Charles go bald in the most cartoonishly melodramatic way possible.

Would be cool if there was a James Bond esque open that involves the Shadow King but is aside from maybe a few things not tied to the main plot. Makes sense too as Storm is being introduced.

Then again it's Fox so that won't happen

And then Beast creates a serum so he can grow his hair back.
