The first impressions of X-Men: Days of Future Past last week were overwhelmingly positive, and while Twitter reactions aren't always reliable, the first full review concurs that Bryan Singer's upcoming sequel is indeed "one of the best in the series." The review, via Geek.com, notably praises the film's very loose adaptation of the Days of the Future Past comic and how changes made for the film make it "surprisingly much better." Also praised were performances of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Michael Fassbender as past Magneto, and Peter Dinklage as the "simply excellent" Boliver Trask. Of course, the Geek reviewer also makes note of few flaws: "Ellen Page works great with what she’s given as Kitty Pryde, but she hasn’t had nearly enough face time in the series to work as the main character in a movie that tries to tie two timelines together and salvage a franchise," being one of them. Besides the characters aforementioned, Patrick Stewart's "few lines" as Professor X, and Ian McKellan's "near silence" as Magneto, the review fails to mention much else about the many other supporting characters in X-Men: Days of Future Past. However, it concludes with a list of  "spoiler-filled observations that have nothing to do with the review."

  • Warpath sucks. Sorry, but being strong isn’t a really impressive power compared to teleportation and elemental control, and wow that face paint looks stupid.
  • Blink is amazing. Great portal effects and choreography. Makes me want to see an Exiles movie.
  • The Sentinels of the future are freaking Nimrods. Super overpowered.
  • The Necrid-like Giant Floating Tomb Sentinel Carriers are terrifying. It’s awesome.
  • Ellen Page could be a really great Kitty Pryde if they gave her more material to work with.
  • Quicksilver is surprisingly good. Costume is incredibly stupid, but the actor is likable and the sequences he’s in work. Glad to see it wasn’t just a rushed, desperate grab to have a Quicksilver just like Avengers 2 will.
  • Not sure if I like Mystique’s fighting style. It’s eye-catching and fast, but very strange. It’s unnecessarily contortionist and feet-focused, like she was trained by Sensei Quentin Tarantino.
  • Magneto really doesn’t think his plans through. Like, ever.
  • Oh hi Cyclops. Glad both X-Men 3 didn’t happen and you’re still a tool that thinks he’s in high school.
  • Holographic clocks and weird stuff, the same time as the future in the rest of the movie, but the X-Men are all the same as they were 14 years ago. What year is it?
  • Oh hi Kelsey Grammer. I’d call you Beast, but you never actually did anything in the movies, and you only appeared in the one film that is confirmed to have not actually happened anymore.
  • EN SABAH NUR! EN SABAH NUR! EN SABAH NUR!

Yea, those "spoilery" bits they mention are so poorly written that I have no clue what a lot of that's talking about...

I heard there's some openings over at AICN, guy...

2014 is already infinitely better than 2013 with the release with the Winter Soldier but we still have Days of Future Past, Godzilla and Guardians of the Galaxy to go and all of them look to be shaping up to be phenomenal.
