Deadline have exclusively revealed that Justin Lin will helm the next instalment in the Bourne franchise. This will be the fifth movie in the series; the first three focused on Matt Damon's Jason Bourne, while The Bourne Legacy put the spotlight on Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross. It was met with a tepid response, but proved successful enough to warrant a sequel. Renner will reprise the role in a story from Invictus and Sherlock Holmes writer Anthony Peckham. You can add the currently untitled movie to an already packed out 2015 as Universal are eyeing a release date during that summer. After earning over $1 billion in box office takings through the last three Fast & Furious movies, the studio will surely be hoping that Lin brings the same level of success and action-packed excitement to the next Bourne. Are you guys excited to see the movie?

I have no problem with this as long as Gilroy is writing the screenplay.

And the next one needs to be called Aaron Cross. I think most audiences will know it's connected to Bourne,

I love Jeremy Renner and I think Justin Lin is great at directing action, but if it ain't got Jason Bourne in it, I am not watching!

If this movie has the name "The Bourne" in it again, That would be really stupid.

Here's an idea...call it "The Cross Identity", the sequel, "The Cross Supremacy", and the next one "The Cross Ultimatum".

I absolutely loved the Bourne trilogy, but I've had absolutely zero interest to see the Jeremy Renner movie. This just seems like a cash grab, and the critical and box office reception of The Bourne Legacy really speaks volumes to me. So can anyone tell me whether the Renner movie is worth it at all? I thought the Bourne trilogy ended absolutely perfectly.

I would rather see Justin Lin doing the Expendables but I'll take this. The man turned the Fast Franchise from something that surely should have gone direct-to-video into a blockbuster franchise. My interest in this is piqued.

If it's not better then the last one it will probably kill the series....the last one was predictable and boring.

@SauronsBANE1 I loved the trilogy (bought it on Blu-Ray), but was disappointed in this. They should have given it a different title and tried something new with the story line.

@beto and @BillyM67, Thanks for the replies! From what I heard, I figured Bourne Legacy was a disappointment compared to the trilogy. My opinion is that they should've just left the "Bourne" name out of it completely, because it seems like they just name-drop Jason Bourne every chance they get. I'm sure it's a solid action flick, but the Bourne factor inevitably raises the bar. Ah well, maybe I'll see it on cable someday.

Don't call it Bourne...it's like Sony and MGM announcing "the new Bond 24 film featuring Felix Leiter, and only Felix Leiter."

Unless Jason Bourne is the film's protagonist, don't call it Bourne...

Jason Bourne really needs to be a part of the story, if not, don't call it THE BOURNE WHATEVER, its CROSS, BOURNE HAS NOTHING TO DO ABOUT IT!!!

I'd be more interested if they were trying to involve Matt Damon.

Otherwise, I don't get what they're going for here. Legacy's by far the weakest of the Bourne films.

I watched The Bourne Legacy at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago for the first time.

I liked Jeremy Renner, but the story was all over the place. It lacked the focus the and polish the previous Bourne movies had.

I hope that changes with the sequel.
