Since opening on Christmas Day last month, director Quentin Tarantino's critically acclaimed action Western Django Unchained has proven to be a big success. The film, which stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson, has now set a new record for the Pulp Fiction director. The Weinstein Company has confirmed that Django (which has yet to open in international territories) is nearing $130 million domestically, becoming Tarantino's highest grossing project to date. This surpasses the $120.5M gross of his last film, 2009's Inglourious Basterds. The film recently won two Golden Globes, Best Screenplay for Tarantino and Best Supporting Actor for Waltz. Django Unchained is also up for five Academy Awards (which will be held next month), being nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (again for Waltz), Best Cinematography, and Best Sound Editing.

How much has it made worldwide? Because it needs to make something like $330 million WW to beat inglorious basterds.

I can't wait to see this movie, although chances are I won't be able to watch it tomorrow when it's released as we're supposed to have some kind of snow storm tonight. Bad enough we had to wait nearly an extra month over here in the UK, now because of the weather I'll have to wait even longer...

Just did not like this movie at all. Is their such a thing as too much Tarantino. Fox and his girlfriend ( I forget her name ) were awful. Tarantino himself needs to recuse himself from future cameos ( ugh ). Waltz is really the only compelling attraction and that's not enough.

This mark is great & pleased the movie has made it. However, it still needs to make another $70+ million to break even from a 100M budget. Also, is this movie going to be shown overseas? It needs additional cash flow in a hurry to be considered finically even and much more to be considered a finical success.

This is why race is so destructive because it both excludes people as well as encourages group thought/action. Whenever someone pulls the "you're not black" card it's time to walk away from the conversation because the (usually) narrow-minded people that judge what is and isn't quote-unquote "black" aren't going to add anything other than divisiveness.

Me personally? I'm under the mind that no one gets to define me but myself and I'm definetly not going to like, think or act a certain way just to be included by a group or organization. **** that noise. Only people who are insecure in their own manhood/being fight to be accepted by another.

I don't think Tarantino is as deep as someof you hope or feel. I also think he is a vacuous deuche who is starting to believe his own press too much.
