DIE HARD 6 Producer Has Revealed The Action Sequel's Official Title, And It's Not "Year One"
We'd been led to believe that the planned sixth installment in the Die Hard franchise would be titled "Year One" after the Boom! Studios prequel comic, but not according to producer Lorenzo diBonaventura.
It seems Die Hard 6 is not going to be a prequel (at least, not entirely) after all, and it won't be called "Year One."
While speaking to Empire, producer Lorenzo diBonaventura revealed that the latest installment in the iconic action franchise is actually titled McClane, and will switch between Bruce Willis' ceaselessly put-upon lawman as a rookie in his twenties and a 60-year-old veteran.
“We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before. I don’t know how you do Die Hard without Bruce - the idea that he’s not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version.”
The last movie, A Good Day to Die Hard, was savaged by critics, but it still managed to make a fair few quid at the box office which is why we're getting this follow-up. Can McClane restore the series to its former glory? Well, it has Len Wiseman at the helm again so... we'll see!
