EXPENDABLES 4 Red Band Trailer Makes It Very Clear That The Movie Is R-Rated

"They'll Die When They're Dead."

Lionsgate has released a new red-band trailer for Expendables 4, aka Expend4bles, along with a series of posters spotlighting the returning characters and a few new faces.

The footage begins with voice-over man having a field day, as he explains that this fourth movie will finally give the fans what they've been asking for by making the action R-rated (were the previous entries PG-13?).

This would appear to be setting-up plenty of on-screen carnage, but what follows is a relatively tame teaser, with some CGI blood spurts, a couple of F-bombs, and one final shot of Megan Fox's character in her underwear.

Not exactly going to have the MPAA up in arms, but we're sure fans will appreciate the effort.

Check out the new trailer and posters below.

Stuntman-turned-director Scott Waugh (Need for Speed) will helm the project from a script by Spenser Cohen, Max Adams and John Joseph Connolly.

“It’s so much fun to bring these stars together for a no-holds-barred action film,” said Jason Constantine, president of acquisitions and co-productions for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group back when the movie was first announced. “The new film will raise the stakes and be the biggest, most badass adventure yet. Popcorn entertainment is guaranteed,” added Millennium president, Jeffrey Greenstein.

A new generation of stars join the world’s top action stars for an adrenaline-fueled adventure in Expend4bles. Reuniting as the team of elite mercenaries, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone are joined for the first time by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Andy Garcia. Armed with every weapon they can get their hands on and the skills to use them, The Expendables are the world’s last line of defense and the team that gets called when all other options are off the table. But new team members with new styles and tactics are going to give “new blood” a whole new meaning.

Expendables 4 hits theaters on September 22.

@ClintThaHamster - Nope.

@ClintThaHamster - Expendables was R with a bunch of F bombs and lots of gore. Expendables 2 was R, but Chuck Norris requested no F bombs with the gore mostly intact. Expendables 3 was PG-13 with no gore and only one F bomb.

@MasterMix - Thanks for the info, but I absolutely would have googled it if I cared, and CERTAINLY would have googled it if I were writing an article about it.

@ClintThaHamster - Mark is way too edgy for things like proper research and informative articles. He’s the ‘cool kid’ of the site if you couldn’t tell

Honestly dont know if ill watch this

I am a big stallone fan, ive watched all 3 of the previous films in theaters, big fan of 80’s action movies

But this movie seems to be going against the whole draw of the series. Getting to see the old guys together which never happened in the 80’s, for one cheesy final ride

Here they seemed to have even skipped the 90’s and 2000’s action stars ourside of who was already in the first 3

Would rank them

1.Expendables 2
2.Expensables
3.Expendables 3

@dracula - I would go…

1. The Expendables 2
2. The Expendables 3
3. The Expendables

@TheVisionary25 - dont know.

Outside of Mel Gibson, the new aditions didnt really add anything

Felt snipes and benderes were wasted

Glad the young guys arent back

@dracula - maybe it’s because I was never a big fan of the 80s-90ms action heroes much but I just found 3 to be more fun to an extent then the first one.

Wonder why they dropped charisma carpenter

She didnt have a big role in the previous film but they did being really just a cameo role but they did bring her back for every movie

@dracula - she sadly isn’t as hot of a commodity anymore as Fox is.
As a fellow Buffy fan, she’s the reason I watched the first movie

Expendables was supposed to be throwback to 80s and 90s action films. Instead it became discount Fast and Furious. I'll watch it for Iko Uwais and Statham though.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - it was supposed to be a spin-off movie for Statham but got reworked into a semi sequel

@Blergh - That makes sense.
Origame

@Blergh - I thought it was a female led spin off that got retooled for a sequel. Hence Megan fox.
Blergh
Blergh - 8/24/2023, 1:11 AM
@Origame - that was a previous idea that never materialized. Per Stallones words himself it’s essentially a Statham solo movie

That female led spinoff would have been dope though
