FAST & FURIOUS 9 Total Film Cover Revealed; John Cena Says The Film Is "A Reason To Go To The [Theater]"

Fast & Furious 9 was one of the first 2020 blockbusters to be pushed into 2021. Originally scheduled for a May 22, 2020 release, it won't be heading our way until April 2, this year. There's a lot of excitement to head back into the crazy world of this franchise, especially now the end is in sight with Fast & Furious 11 planned as a finale.

This current installment graces the cover of the latest issue of Total Film Magazine, and a quote from franchise newcomer John Cena reads, "Fast 9 is definitely a reason to go to the cinema."

The former pro wrestler would later take to social media to say, "[I've] been ready see this project come to audiences since I first stepped on set." This and The Suicide Squad promise to be Cena's big break in 2021, so it's no wonder he's excited for Fast 9 to finally see the light of day.

In this film, Dominic Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most.

His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob, who is being coerced by previous enemy, cyberterrorist Cipher. Dom has a choice: turn his back on Jakob or save him from being fully seduced into the wrong path.

@BrainySleep - COVID is reason not to well then COVID is reason NOT. TO. GO. FOOD shopping people are very close quarters in shopping markets see comments like that is reason COVID is out of control dumb comment.,

Don’t go to theater because of COVID but go to Walmart food shopping where people walk around maskless and people are so close to you can give them high five smart thinking people

@dragon316 - Can you rewrite the first paragraph in English please?

I'm in the UK, we have to wear masks when food shopping (which is ESSENTIAL for people to FEED THEMSELVES). Not seen anyone giving high fives yet but if I do I'll let you know.

This is probably going to make its budget from china alone. But 1 billion is out of the question. Maybe around 500-600 milion. With that said not going to bother with this one. Will just wait for an HD torrent

@LameLuka - speaking of films that made their budget back in China. I'm still waiting on that Warcraft sequel, the first one was terrible and I'd love to see a second clusterfrick

@Blergh - as someone that never played the game, I enjoyed that one quite a bitt. Saw it with a friend who had played the games and he enjoyed it also.
But rumors began about a few months ago that a sequel could happen just cause of the money it made in china.
It still holds the title for the biggest box office for a video game movie if I am not mistaken.

Blergh - 1/5/2021, 2:40 AM
@LameLuka - it does, personally I never played the games heavily so knew little about the plot but what really intrigued me was the aesthetic of the movie.
The large armor, high fantasy world-building.
I'd really like for that sequel to materialize.

LameLuka - 1/5/2021, 2:44 AM
@Blergh - yeah the world building was fun, and the big bulky armor was cool to

People obviously love this franchise, so no harm done to me.
But I notice that the older I get, the less I like these movies. The first one was a great action flick, the second dumb fun, Tokyo Drift itched the edgy teen in me, the fourth one was really cool and from then on they all start to blend together in one samey stew.

I'll obviously watch it at some point but I won't be going to theatres for this. Pandemic or no pandemic.

Remember going to see the original film at the cinema and never once did I think that it would morph into a 9-film behemoth totally removed from the (admittedly flimsy) 'realism' of the first film. I mean, it was OTT and Rob Cohen's method of portraying the cars' turn of speed made them look like they were hitting warp 9 in a sci-fi movie ........ but it was still more grounded than some of the insane stuff in the sequels. A friend of mine was closely involved with the franchise for a while there so got to see some of the car rigs used in the movies up close, interesting stuff.

@Mando - I have a feeling that Black Widow and F9 will be the BIG draws for people to go to theaters this year
