The Daily Mail has shared an explosive new batch of set photos from the Scotland set of Disney and Lucasfilm's upcoming Indiana Jones 5, offering our best look yet at the returning Harrison Ford (Blade Runner 2049Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) as the titular archaeologist, and it looks like he will indeed be de-aged for some key sequences.

The photos, which tease an explosive scene at Bamburgh Castle, have also revealed that Primetime Emmy-nominee Toby Jones (Captain America; The First Avenger; Jurassic World) has joined the cast in an undisclosed role, but the photos do seem to indicate that he'll be playing an ally to Indy.

In addition to Ford and Jones, the all-star cast will feature Golden Globe-winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Solo: A Star Wars StoryFleabag), BAFTA Film Award-nominee Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange; Hannibal), Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age of UltronPenny Dreadful: City of Angels), Boyd Holbrook (Logan; The Predator), and Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black PantherThe Resident).

2x Academy Award-nominee James Mangold (Logan; Ford v Ferrari) will be in the director's chair, taking the reins from 3x Academy Award-winner Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park; Ready Player One), who directed the previous four installments.

Jonathan Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars StoryThe First Time) - the son of Raiders of the Lost Ark writer Lawrence Kasdan - recently touched up the script after original screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park; Spider-Man) exited the project.

Spielberg will executive produce with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel serving as producers.

Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.

Indy looks like he needs an Ensure. Man looks like he’s been through it.

My one wish / hope is Indy retires or dies. Ford is a great actor but this franchise needs young blood.

@xHollywoodx - It's already confirmed this is the last Ford Indy film (hopefully the last Indy film altogether though!)

I hate all this old Indy hate. I would have loved him to be young still too but it just seems kinda sad to me that everyone is basically saying you can’t go on adventures just because your old. If Ford and everyone involved wants to do it then I don’t see why it shouldn’t be done

@Will44482 - you can but it won't look believable and takes you out of being immersed into the film. Breaks one's suspension of belief.

@kitheka - then don't watch it if it bothers you so much 🤷‍♂️ making this without Lucas or Spielberg is the most redeeming quality

@kitheka - C'mon that reason doesn't make any sense. Indiana Jones has never been about immersion. It's always been basically a cartoon. The guy survived falling out of a plane by using a dingy. He survived a freaking nuke by hiding in a fridge. This has been the case since Raiders. It's not a realistic film franchise.

The fact that he's like 70 and STILL surviving all these crazy dangers actually seems to be MORE in the spirit of Indiana Jones in my opinion. It emphasises that invincibility of the character that has defined him since his inception. He's probably one of the only action protaganists that CAN actually grow old and not have it make a difference.

I remember reading a review of Raiders that came out at the time praising the film by saying something like "Indy has more lives than a cartoon character". I think that's always been the tone.

It would be great if Indy fights "Ahnenerbe". An occult organization created by Heinrich Himmler. Perhaps Indy fought Ahnenerbe during WWII and Ahnenerbe's heirs (Mads Mikkelsen and others) came to America in the 1960s. Also, we may have seen a member of Ahnenerbe.

Maybe Toby Jones' character betrays the organization and he runs away with Indy.

@Repian - I don't for sure that's the direction you're taking it in, but I sure wanna see Indy punch some Nazi's in Argentina

Harrison Ford, Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are in my neighborhood at the moment. HF has been extremely social; visiting local restaurants and being seen everywhere on his racing cycle. I wish I had his energy. The only downside is the amount of people who've pitched-up outside his hotel, some of whom are maskless and are clearly invading his personal space risking spreading that damned infection. Yesterday HF gave them a (well deserved) stern warning to back off. He still has edge. He's still 'got it.'

Notice the dots on his face and jacket? I think this is definitely being shot for a flashback

@xfan320 - and there are Nazi bikes and props. Yeah its definitely a flashback (or just opening like the Last Crusade)

Long time Indy fan here. Very excited to see news of this. As for some of the comments, I'm sure they know what they're doing. Just because us fans don't know the picture, that's no reason to be worried. I just wish it was coming sooner.

Gotta say, Toby Jones the perfect sidekick for Indy I didn't know he needed. I wanted Mikkelsen to be a fellow professor (who is way out of his depth), but I'll takes Jones in that role too
