Logan Lerman talked with SPINOFFONLINE at this years WonderCon. The young star had plenty to say about his upcoming stint in Paul W.S. Anderson's The Three Musketeers. He made it clear that this telling of the classic tale will be a little more "high tech" than other versions.

“Everybody’s asking, ‘What’s different about this Musketeers film that’s different than all of the other Musketeers films that have been made?’ It’s a more contemporary version, it’s the untold chapter where the Musketeers are weaponry experts.”

“They’re kind of looked at as being the James Bonds of their times, with gadgets and gizmos and fun things, instead of just sword fighting. It makes for a lot of fun, and a whole different … twist to the other Musketeers films.”

“There’s … a lot of cool stuff [that] I can’t even give a name. A lot of stuff you haven’t seen before. It’s going to blow people away.”

“Even in the trailer you can see [Matthew Macfadyen] using this old-school flamethrower. It’s cool. There was a lot of jealousy there, but I got to do a lot of cool stuff as well.”

Lerman went on to talk a little about the training he went through in order to portray the highly skilled d’Artagnan on screen.

“I think I had the most fight scenes in the film, so I wanted to make sure that d’Artagnan looks like a badass with a sword.”

“Fencing, it’s such a detailed sport. I wanted to make sure it looked right and we can please fencers all around the world as well. I trained for, maybe like eight, nine months. We were all training throughout filming, but before we started we [the four stars] trained for about two months together. And before that I was training for two and a half, three months.”

Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich,Orlando Bloom, Juno Temple, Logan Lerman, Matthew Macfadyen, Christoph Waltz, Ray Stevenson and Mads Mikkelsen is due out in theaters Oct 14th 2011.

I like that Disney is bringing back the adventure genre. There haven't been many good adventure movies since Indiana Jones (not counting 4).Maybe The Mummy.
So they're doing pretty good with Pirates, Prince of Persia and now The Three Musketeers.

I have to say that although I am usually a stickler for staying true to the source, this trailer looks super cool to me. I can't wait to see the film.

it seems they have adopted the same approach taken with the recent Sherlock Holmes film, giving a few nods to 'modern' tech (remote controls, dirty bombs, albeit in their obviously basic forms)that tries to bridge the period with the present.

Having read the book at least half a dozen times, I'm not holding up a high expectation for this movie. Hopefully it won't be as bad as that 1993 Chris O'Donnell crapfest.

Ok, just watched the preview. It's worse than I expected. Looks like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Part 2.

Ugh. Talk about a movie nobody asked for.

@ Spilox: I hadn't really thought about it, but yeah, it's nice to see more all-ages adventure films. Too bad that the first PotC is the only one that hasn't completely sucked so far. Maybe if they'd stop letting scrubs like Paul W.S. Anderson and Stephen Sommers direct them...

While this might be entertaining, nothing will ever top the Richard Lester films. No way, no how.
