MTV NEWS Recently Spoke to film producer Joel Silver While he was promoting his latest movie, Unknown. They then questioned him about the adaption of the DC Comic's title Swamp Thing.

"I don’t know, there are rights issues with Swamp Thing," Silver told MTV News when asked if we'll ever see the 3-D "Swamp Thing" movie he hinted at back in August 2009. "I’m not sure if we could clear that up but we’re always working on something. We like the idea of making a 3-D version of that story, but it’s not something we can do right now."

Swamp Thing Currently has no Known director, screenwriter, or release date. Stay posted with comicbookmovie any updates to its status

They of course followed with a question about the adaption of Sgt. Rock, a movie that we have been promised several times over the years. Sgt. Rock had even been on the fast track to theaters before its director Guy Ritchie bailed for the Sherlock Holmes franchise. Sadly his answer was not very different from the Swamp Thing One:

"We were driving down the road at one point, and then not," said Silver, summarizing the last few, on-again, off-again years of "Sgt. Rock" development. "Look, these things are there, and sometimes they come about, and sometimes they don’t, but it’s hard to talk about them until they’re real movies."

Francis Lawrence who directed I Am Legend is currently attached to direct the adaption for Sgt. Rock. Again Check with comicbookmovie for any updates on the progress of the Sgt. Rock movie.

it's a good thing, Guy Ritchie wanted to make a WWII movie, but when Guy Ritchie left the project Joel Silver wanted to move the movie's setting to a futuristic setting rather than a WWII one.

In conclusion, Joel Silver was going to screw up Sgt Rock movie, so this is a good thing.

jazz@ Agree!

They should offer Swamp Thing to David Croenenberg!:)
He would make a very creepy and scary Swamp Thing movie!
Im sure he would give justice to Alan Moore´s stories!

Mads Mikkelsen or Paul Bettany as Dr. Alec Holland / Motion Capture Swamp Thing.

Silver sucks. He can't get a movie made anymore becuase of a string of bombs and the fact that he's terrible to work with. He was producing a He-Man film and twice it didn't get made (studio didn't have faith in him). Now he can't get these to work. Without Mr & Ms Wachowski he'd have nothing to fall back on.

I'll trade Swamp Thing with Hawkman, Booster Gold, Adam Strange, Aquaman, or Green Arrow movie.

Ummm... what? That's not correct. The reason that Iron Man and Thor weren't made first was because those two properties were still owned by Marvel Studios, which at the time wasn't financially able to make their own movies. Blade on the other hand was given to New Line Cinema, so naturally they went ahead and made a film for it. It has nothing to do with finding a good script, or the right director, or the proper budget, blah blah blah. If WB really wanted to make a Flash movie, they would have made it a long time ago instead of wasting time and money on films like Catwoman, Jonah Hex, or the Losers.

1. What the hell are you talking about? Marvel Studios didn't make Punisher War Zone. Lionsgate did. The decision to make a second Punisher film had nothing to do with Marvel.

2. DC is owned and operated by the second largest entertainment conglomerate in the world, and has been owned by them for at least the past 30 years. So to say that they couldn't make a Flash movie because of money problems is utter trash. In other words, you got what I'm saying absolutely right.

@indoraptor12

different studios hard to rights to a Iron Man movie.

first it was Universal Studios bought the rights to develop Iron Man. in 1996 Fox Studio brought the rights from Universal. Fox sold the rights to New Line Cinema then New Line Cinema returned the film rights to Marvel.

You're right about Iron Man once being owned by different studios. Although the fact remains that Marvel Studios was still very young at the time and was unable to finance their own films.
