How will the Stallone/Willis/Schwarzenegger trifecta tie together?

In an interview with PopWatch's Chris Nashawaty, Stallone discusses how his scene with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis tie into the movie.

Stallone said the superstar-summit scene takes place in a church, where Willis’ antagonist summoned the mercenary played by Stallone to finally meet face-to-face, hoping to hire him for a mission. Just as the meeting gets under way, in walks another killer-for-hire. who just so happens to be Stallone’s longtime rival:

“Bruce says ‘Well, there’s one other person I want to talk to before I hire you,” says Stallone. “And then Arnold, who plays my old rival, walks in. We have a history together. And we go back and forth and I tell him that I should have shot him a long time ago when I had the chance. Then it goes on from there. And here we are, the three of us trying to man up to one another, playing off of who we are, using our baggage in this one scene.”

“I was just looking at the dailies, saying, ‘Jesus, this is amazing!’ I talked about this scene with these guys for a long time, but I never thought it would come to fruition.”

Stallone goes on to say that the big scene with Willis, Schwarzenegger, and himself would end up as more than a cameo, or a stunt, in the final cut of the film. “It’s probably going to be about 5 minutes of screen time.”

The Expendables is slated for release August 2010. The movie pays tribute to the blockbuster action films of the 1980s and early '90s and film includes action veterans from those decades.

Once again, proof that 2009's slumping cinema snorefest will be forgotten by 2010's triumphant titillating display of true movie magic.

i am pretty amp'd up about this one. it has always pained me that straightforward action movies began to dwindle in the early 1990's, as a form, to straight to video wastes of time that were more parody of the genre than proper execution. he we have it a straight, brass balls, big explosions, huge guns, sweaty action movie that actually sweatily, face-punches-sound-like-crates smashing integrates the action greats of the golden age of the form into a serious, contemporary iteration of the form.

Actually I was hoping Stallone and Arnie to slug-it-out on "Rocky 7: Terminator Champ".

And for Bruce Willis. If he only gain just a few more pounds I think he can be a cool Homer Simpson. Joke X-D.

Kidding aside I do miss these guys and their movies. I hope it does well.
