You may have noticed that the recent trailer for "The Expendables" was lack a little...action and focusing more on the stars of the film. Here's the reason why: It seems that with the recent lack of box office success with the R-rated "Kick-Ass," the studio and Sylvester Stallone are concerned that the same thing may occur with "The Expendables."
In response to this, the are considering going to a PG-13 rated cut. This from the article:
"The reason for that recent Expendables trailer selling cast and nothing else is the studio and Sylvester Stallone are still grappling with whether to go with an R-rated or PG-13 version. Obviously there would be very different tones in the campaign if it's the former. I hope they go with the R-rated version, but apparently there's pressure in the marketplace not to."
If you ask me, i think the idea is completely insane to drop the R-rating. as I stated in the teaser, it would completely castrate the film of its esseence and purpose. I really hope they don't do this.
"The Expendables" is set to release in August of this year and stars a plethora of some of film's biggest action stars: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Lee, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis and the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger and is directed by Sylvester Stallone.
