Jim Halpert is your new Jack Ryan.

Deadline is reporting that John Krasinski, former star of NBC's hit comedy The Office, has signed on to portray the latest incarnation of Jack Ryan. This news comes a few months after we originally received word that Paramount TV & Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes were developing a television series based on Tom Clancy's popular CIA hero for Amazon with a series commitment and the Lost duo of Carlton Cuse & Graham Roland attached as co-showrunners.

The potential series will be a more contemporary take on Jack Ryan, following him in his prime as a CIA analyst/operative and will only use the novels as source material.
The project hasn't officially been greenlit just yet, but the addition of Krasinski certainly bodes well for the show's chances.

Krasinski is the latest in a long line of actors to tackle the role of Ryan, following in the footsteps of Alec Baldwin (The Hunt For Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot Games; Clear And Present Danger), Ben Affleck (The Sum Of All Fears), and Chris Pine (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit). Krasinski was most recently seen in the Michael Bay-directed 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and will be seen next in the J.J. Abrams-produced sci-fi thriller God Particle.

Interesting. I guess now we'll get more of a sense of what he would've been like if they cast him as Cap. I didn't think he fit that role and I'm glad we got Evans, but maybe he'd be a good fit for another superhero.

This could be good. Amazon has churned out some solid shows. Happy that Krasinski is getting work. He was BADASS in 13 Hours. He can definitely pull off CIA operative

This should be good. John is a good actor and l'll be looking forward to his version of Jack, because he showed he can do serious stuff in 13 Hours.

Krasinski is fine but Jack Ryan is an uninteresting character.
Every single Ryan movie is a bore I don't think it'll be better on the small screen.

I like Jack Ryan as a character, maybe a TV show is just what is needed to flesh out the character more. They did pick a hell of an actor, so i'm sure it will be solid.

Love this casting. In the books, the best part about Jack Ryan is that he's not an action star, he's an analyst. A normal guy that gets put into tough situations. Krasinski's great for it.
