GOTHAM KNIGHTS And SUPERNATURAL Spinoff THE WINCHESTERS Moving Forward At The CW

Gotham Knights, a series picking up in the aftermath of Batman's death, has received a pilot order at The CW, as has another Supernatural prequel revolving around John and Mary Winchester. Check it out...

The CW has decided to give pilot orders to both Gotham Knights and The Winchesters, while Robert Rodriguez's female-led Zorro series has received an order for six more scripts. That's not moving to series quite yet, but this is a good indication that the network has serious plans for the project.

Gotham Knights, which isn't related to the upcoming video game of the same name, comes from Batwoman writers Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams. It's not actually set in The CWVerse as it picks up shortly after the murder of Bruce Wayne, with his rebellious adopted son forming an alliance with the children of Batman's enemies when they’re all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. With Gotham as dangerous as it’s ever been, the group of fugitives could be the city’s next saviours.

It's a somewhat strange story to tell, and another example of Warner Bros. making a Batman TV series...minus Batman. Hopefully, more plot and character details will be revealed soon.

The Winchesters is the third attempt at a Supernatural spinoff and is a prequel following "the epic, untold love story" of John and Mary Winchester, Sam and Dean's parents. Jensen Ackles is set to executive produce and narrate the show, while Supernatural's Robbie Thompson is penning the script.

Jared Padalecki is also expected to be involved in some way, but he might be busy elsewhere as The CW has also ordered a prequel for his new show, Walker, set in the 19th century.

Pilot orders don't mean any of these shows will happen, but we'll be sure to keep you updated.

Never got into Supernatural

Gotham Knights sounds like something out of the disney channel and is from writters of a show I dont like, not interested

Not interested in a modern Zorro, the setting is part of what makes Zorro cool. Taking that away makes him no different than any of the other heroes on tv. nothing wrong with female Zorro but yeah, not interested

@dracula - I think a modern Zorro can work, but it can very quickly go south. I trust Rodriguez though

@bkmeijer - You still trust Rodiguez after
Machete
Machete Kills
Spy Kids 3d
Sin City A Dame To Kill For?
Guy use to be comparable to Tarantino, but seems he lost his stuff

Just seems pointless to put Zorro in the modern day, what of what makes Zorro unique can even be put in a modern setting. Could just watch any modern set grouned hero show

@dracula - yeah not all his stuff is great, but I think his style is unique enough to set it apart from any other modern hero show. But as I said, it can easily turn out mediocre to bad pretty fast

Jesus Christ, I’ve never seen so much effort to make a Batman show without having Batman in it.

What is it with DC making Batmanless shows? Really wish they made a Gotham Knights movie instead with Leslie's Batgirl, O'Brien's Nightwing and a bunch of others

I guess Bruce Wayne will always be either young, old or murdered outside of the movies.

Will we have a second live action Nightwing? Or is it Tim or Damien?

That and please, please don’t let the Winchesters get picked up

Gotham Knights synopsis is going to enrage the majority of people. Shouldn’t have called it “Gotham Knights”.

John and Mary Winchester zzz, give us Bobby and Rufus prequel, that's one I'll watch!

The name will surely change. You can't release two Batman related projects called Gotham Knights and have them totally unrelated. Brand confusion surely.

I stopped watching the Arrowverse a long long time ago.

But i recently started Superman and Lois and i'm loving it.

I could be wrong, but I hope this is a sign they'll cancel Batwoman with Gotham Knights replacing it, in a similar vein of Superman & Lois replacing Supergirl!

What the [frick] is with the female led Zorro? Seriously? Why the hell can’t they come up with a great female protagonist instead of cramming one into the place of a male character? There’s been some fantastic kick arse female led and co-led action shows over the years: La Femme Nikita (both versions, though the OG one was better and I literally spotted the exact moment the Maqqie Q one changed writers and tone and it went to shit), ALIAS, Battlestar Galactica (the noughties version, it’s the greatest TV show in human history, it’s not even close. Fight me.), Strike Back (the last couple of seasons, the first few were all blokes) and on the movie front, Angelina Jolie’s Salt always comes to mind, it was bloody fantastic. Show women some respect by having some faith in a new character that’s actually well written for gods sake, instead of piggy backing off an established male character to draw people in. It’s pissweak and lazy.
On the subject, I would much rather see the ill fated spin off of the female characters from Supernatural than see When John Met Mary. FFS 🤦🏻‍♂️

Oh, and Gotham Knights sounds completely and utterly ridiculous. Fire these people.

The concept for Gotham Knights alone sounds like a joke like something outta a Disney Channel movie like Descendants. Might as well turn it into a musical while you’re at it. You would think that with a concept like Gotham Knights you would expect for there are some unique good ideas behind it. Oh wait that’s right. It’s the CW. They don’t have any unique ideas. Or if they do, they either [frick] it up or it overstays it’s welcome.

Not sure why some people are jumping to conclusions that Gotham Knights won't be set in the Arrowverse when they still have a Multiverse and they can set it on a different Earth.

The premise of villains' offsprings can sound weird and farfetched, unless you remember that characters like Damian Wayne, Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown are childs from vilains like Talia al Ghul, Lady Shiva and Cluemaster. These characters aren't exactly exclusive to just the big screen, so I am curious if they are in mind for this spin-off.
