ARROW EP On The Oliver And Felicity Relationship After The Mid-Season Finale

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg discusses the new wrinkle in the Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver (Stephen Amell) relationship following the formers flirtation with Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in the mid-season finale.

It seems Oliver Queen always has several possibilities when it comes to his love life on The CW's Arrow. However, Felicity is the fan favorite romantic choice for the Starling City vigilante and those shippers may get their wish thanks to the events of the mid-season finale. In the wake of Felicity's playful relationship with Barry Allen, feelings of jealous may have awoken in Oliver. Said Kreisberg to TV Guide, "Oliver isn't quite sure what he feels. He knows he feels something for her, but can't quite define it. He's surprised in [the mid-season finale] when Dig [David Ramsey] points out to him that what [he's] feeling right now might actually be termed jealousy. For Felicity, she doesn't want to like Oliver in a way because she finds him unattainable, and in a way he is unattainable especially after... he said that it's probably better that [he's] not with somebody he cares about. While she really does like Barry, I think she probably throws even more into it because now he's somebody who is available. The fallout from Episode 9 carries over into the next episodes as far as the Oliver and Felicity relationship is concerned. Barry has had a profound effect on them, and that will carry through."

If we know that Oliver is destined to end up with Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) what does that mean for any budding relationship with Felicity? If things do get serious for Arrow and his tech assistant, how would things evolve and ultimately deteriorate to where Oliver ends up in Laurel's arms? I'm sure these are the very questions currently being asked in the Arrow writer's room. But perhaps they have the answer already as there are rumblings that Oliver and Felicity will share a kiss in the back-half of season 2.

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

I still stand by the thought that they could easily make a Batman Tv series in this vein.

You can have whole episodes of Oliver not in the hood, and they arent found lacking anything.

A DC TV universe is the answer for Warner Bros. I wonder how long til they figure it out

I don't really want to see them together. But I would like the show to start presenting the characters with more depth.
I know they don't have the time to show all the cast going on dates, shopping, movies, events, concerts and etc., but they can at least have mentions and hints that these guys have a life.
That was something Smallville was pretty good at. Giving the characters layers and clearly presenting them as people who had lives between the episodes and doing things you didn't quite see.

So I would like to see this show give more life and depth to these characters lives than just going from action scene to action scene and plot to plot.

I hope you all know that if Oliver developes deep feelings for Smoak, it will lead to her being killed off. Oliver will end up with Laurel, no matter what.

I hope Oliver ends up with Sarah Lance. Why not to rename her Sarah Dinah Lance? Anyway, I want to Caty Lotz to play Black Canary indefinitely.

They should just be really close friends and keep it professional, not every relationship between a man and a woman has to end up a romantic one. What kind of message is that if does.

@MarvelousAgentX Id love to hear your thoughts about it.
As great as Season 2 has been, it's been intro after intro, fight after fight and big reveals, and at times it feels like they aren't advancing what they begin.

But yes, the characters are feeling less real. Most of the characters have no life beyond the adventures.
Show is still great but they need to work on that.

Nooooo!Don't couple off Ollie with Felicity please. He will eventually end up with Laurel which will mean either two things for that to happen:
1. Felicity will end up dying (a bit extreme), or
2. She's gonna get her heart broken.
& She's just too sweet for that to happen to her

I agree that not every relationship between a man and a woman has to get physical. Perhaps they are going through the stages of friendship and will both come to realize they are meant to be friends. I always got a big brother/ little sister vibe from them. I see her becoming like Oracle.

I like what their relationship has been at and I hope it stays that way. It would feel kinda cheap if they were together. It's like James Bond and Moneypenny.

" In the wake of Felicity's playful relationship with Barry Allen, feelings of jealous may have awoken in Oliver. Said Kreisberg to TV Guide...."

I didn't see that. I why invite Barry to his mom's party if that was the case?

But I am one of those who hope they don't become a couple. For one it's just so damn cliche(and so many people expect it) to have the hero have a relationship with some one who works closely with him or her. When they do things like this it's like they are saying a man and woman can't work together with out being lovers.

I personally would rather see Oliver end up with Felicity. I find Felicity way more interesting than Laurel anyway plus she already knows Oliver better than any other woman. There's been episodes where Laurel wasn't even in them and I didn't miss her one bit, Felicity has completely won me over it would be ashame if he passed that up.

Felicity dating Oliver is going to be the downfall of Felicity's character. She's not the long term option as Oliver's love interest on the show. If she was they would hold off Olicity as long as possible. Laurel is Oliver's Lois Lane. WB is pigheaded and in the end will not change that.

I agree, the Laurel actress, bless her heart, is a tad wooden. She's not a crap actress in terms of delivering the lines, she's pretty believable in that sense, and you hang in with her; on the other hand, it's like she has two faces, "pretty face" and "crying face", both of which are quite good faces, but they're a bit like masks. (Botox?) Felicity is just so much more alive, more real-seeming as a person.

On the other hand, Felicity isn't really pretty enough (in terms of CW) to be his "proper" girlfriend (although anyone on these boards would be over the moon to have her as a girlfriend, of course :) ).

I think they'll almost have a fling, but something will go wrong. What I'd like to see is Felicity breaking bad because of a broken heart, and working against Arrow with all her inside knowledge, but that probably won't happen.
