According to Variety, Big Hero 6 has kicked off its box office run in North America with a solid $1.4 million. That's a bigger debut than than the $1.2 million taken by Frozen last year and significantly more than both The Lego Movie ($400,000) and Rio 2 ($375,000) earlier this year, and the $400,000 taken by Wreck-It Ralph back in 2012. This $1.4 million matches the amount taken by Interstellar when it opened in a limted number of locations on Wednesday. Both movies are expected to earn between $55 million to $60 million this weekend, and each cost roughly $165 million to produce. Which of these movies are you guys most excited to see this weekend?

Not surprising that Audiences would eat this up. That's not to say it's a bad thing. I've heard good things about this one.

Its decent. I respect it more than anything else for having a diverse team where every member (save for 1) is a super smart nerd, their leader is bi-racial, and unlike the planned Justice League line-up on film and Avengers on film so far...BH6 has TWO GIRLS. *Mind Blown*

The movie was very predictable! i feel Disney is using the same formula for every animated movie. Cleshay after another Cleshay..
This is no Frozen or wreck it ralph quality movie.
Hate it that it was 3D too.

I don't understand how a studio that gave us spectacular effects in Gravity and apparently Interstellar, gave us Green Lantern.

@McGee

When and where are you seeing it? Unfortunately, I am seeing it in a regular cinema, since there isn't anything else around my location. I am still sure I am going to enjoy it.

They have an IMAX theater an hour's drive from my house. Either tonight or tomorrow I'll see it. The only reason I'm even making that effort is because Nolan said he filmed it with IMAX cameras.

Big Hero 6 was great and Interstellar was meh IMO, it tries too hard to be smart, I better take a quantum physics course and then go see a movie with spectacular visual effects.

Desrow, you should create an article real quick so it can get deleted and hi-jacked by a poweruser ;)

Good find

Maybe all the "science" on Iterstellar is real but the movie should let it's audience understand what's happening instead of assuming that everyone will get everything.
Any movie could hire a scientist and put tons of "intelligent" stuff in it, but that doesn't mean the movie is smart
