UPDATE: New Character Details For Disney-Marvel's BIG HERO 6 + New Concept Art

Disney just presented its first animated Marvel movie Big Hero 6 at D23 2013, and along with a brief description of the footage shown, we also have a lit of characters that make up the cast of the Japan-set feature as well as a piece of new concept art.

Disney is currently wrapping up its animation presentation at D23, and one of the final films to be shown is the studio's first full-length Marvel cartoon, Big Hero 6. The film is based on a lesser-known series set in Japan. Unfortunately, Disney didn't make any casting announcements for the movie (unlike Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out and Finding Dory), but a clip was shown and revealed which characters to expect, among other things. You can check out a vague description courtesy of Bleeding Cool below, as well as Twitter reactions from some who were lucky enough to see the footage. Walt Disney Studios' Facebook page also uploaded a new piece of concept art. Big Hero 6 is set to hit theaters November 7th, 2014.

They [the audience] were treated to a clip showing Hiro, the fourteen year-old hero, and his newfound sidekick robot BayMax, who has an unusual, inflatable design about a skinny, robotic endoskeleton.

Also in the cast of characters will be GoGo Tomago, Honey Lemon, Wasabi-No Ginger and Fred, known as Fredzilla in the comics. All of the “powers” on display come from technical and mech upgrades invented by Hiro.

Looks fresh and original.

Hopefully they can cram some pet causes in it like immigration and health care reform, otherwise it will just be about the story.

I care!
We can't always get constant live action movies. They're always going to have priorities but this way Marvel can introduce those teams or heroes that we won't see made live action anytime soon into animated movies.

It's the start of a new medium for Marvel. This looks pretty cool so far the animation looks amazing.

I'm actually really happy that Disney bought Marve and Lucasfilm for this reason. We're going to see some really cool, creative stuff in the next few years that we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Disney is really starting to take advantage of not only their own brand again, but the Marvel and Star Wars brands they acquired.

I'm very intrigued by this, but I wonder why Disney didn't pick out a more well known Marvel property.

Can MARVEL finally deliver a high quality animated feature thanks to Disney?
DC/WB dominates in animation of its characters.

MARVEL/DISNEY need to make an animated film with an A-List superhero next.

The animation looks incredible so far. I can't wait to see footage of the team!

@MexicanSuperman It's going to be CG animation. And I would be really interested in Disney doing some AAA Indiana Jones games.

They would sell like hot cakes.

Well, @bropous looks like you were on to something. :-P

Happened much sooner than I anticipated but certainly not complaining, this looks sweet! Hopefully this is successful so they can start making this a regular thing along with their live action films.

I care. The success of animation in general helps bolster the potential for future animated projects of any kind. Same for the super hero genre. And yes, I care about the Big Hero 6 because not all kids movies are just for kids. Who didn't enjoy Up? Or Toy Story? If you don't care, that's cool too and it is nice to know that. I think negative opinions are as valuable as positive ones.

I also care. Big fan of animated films, the concept art looks simple/gorgeous, and it sounds like a nice change of pace from the usual superhero fare. Officially looking forward to it.

@TheLogan Why is it sop hard to understand that DISNEY ANIMATION and PIXAR ARE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT ENTITIES?!?!?!?

Pixar only adapts original content.
Disney animation would do something like adapt from outside material.

It look's okay, i'll hold my judgement until i've seen more footage but i'm still anticipating for an 'Incredibles' sequel.

I'm surprised they went this route.

Thought for sure after the purchase, Disney would have announced a Power Pack film by Pixar.

The title just seems to fit that style of movie making.
