Jonah Hex is already going to be a live action film starring Josh Brolin next year, but it will also be the subject of an animated project as well, as the Continuum has found out.
The short will most likely be attached to one of the direct-to-DVD animated films of DC Comics characters. According to sources from Continuum, multiple short stories are being produced for inclusion with the movies. It's likely the shorts will then be put together for a compilation DVD, which might also include new material. Here's hoping!
Joe R Lansdale has handled the character many times, he teamed up with artist Tim Truman for three comics mini-series in the 1990s. He's also handled Hex in cartoon form before too, writing the "Showdown" episode of Batman: The Animated Series that featured Jonah Hex. Hex also has appeared in animated form too in Justice League Unlimited.
The new animated version will not guest star any DC superheroes and will have PG-13 content, like other Dc Universe projects!
Warner Bros. has not confirmed this information as yet.
LEEE777 - Well this is a exciting idea and its a way to get their lesser know characters to the non comic book reading public and even to some of us who only stick to our own certain favorite books!
Still if Warner Bros wants to push the boat out and really get their characters out there, best place is tv land. A show like Outer Limits in Dc form would be mind blowing! different cast, characters and stories every week would be the way to go and of course make it Live Action! The list of characters they could use would be endless from Ragman to Checkmate to Deathstroke to Solomon Grundy. Even characters like Sandman to characters that have appeared in Green lantern to Lobo to Swamp thing comics. Like i said its endless and so many stories could be told, it could easily compete with the new Star Wars series that's soon to be on television anyway what do you guys think, about the news an my idea, let us know? ; )
