Disney blocks Phase 4 film Frozen Land
Disney has decided to sue Phase 4 films over their new logo for the movie 'Frozen Land' which blatantly rips off 'Frozen's logo. Phase 4 films last tried to get away with such plagiarism on their movie 'Age of the Hobbits.' Hit the jump for more details.
Last year Phase 4 films was busted for its flick 'Age of the Hobbits' release following The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. That film, though, was designed to be a mockumentary. Today they are getting sued by The Mouse House for changing their logo and title from 'The Legend of Sarila' to 'Frozen Land' in the attempt to cash in on the box office success of Disney's Frozen. Disney is asking for an injunction and destruction of all DVDs for Frozen Land. The plaintiff also seeks compensatory and damages, lost profits and actual damages. Phase 4 hasn't yet responded to a request for comment.
"As is apparent from the face of the FROZEN LAND logo, despite the infinite options available to it, Phase 4 intended its logo to replicate the FROZEN Trademark Logo of Disney's FROZEN. For example, the FROZEN Land logo also includes jagged, uneven edges on the lettering, dramatic flourishes on the letters, and an elongated R and Z that cradle a stylized O that curves into itself and does not close entirely. In addition, the word 'frozen' is significantly larger than the word 'land.' The two logos are nearly identical."
Frozen has recently crossed the five hundred million mark at the box office against fierce competition from The Hobbit, Anchorman 2, The Wolf of Wall Street, and is currently number one at the box office. Check out the trailer for Frozen below.
