"The Simpsons is coming to an end," is probably a sentence we will never read in our lives. Today, however, we got soemthing close. After 25 years in publicaion, Simpsons Comics are coming to an end.

Bongo Comics has been publishing the panel-set adventures of America's favorite family since 1993. Though the series hasn't been running as long (or successfully) as its television counterpart, it has made its mark in comic history. Ending at #245, the comic will go down as one of the longest running series without renumbering ever. Announcing the final issue was Bongo Comics Creative Director Nathan Kane, who took to Instagram to post:

Era-ending indeed. However, that's not the only big news today from Bongo Comics. Bongo's other major publication, Spongebob Comics, is slated for an "extended break" with an uncertain future. Bongo will be one of the properties affected by the Disney-21st Century Fox buyout, so what happens next to the niche comic publisher is anyone's guess.

Are you a fan of Bongo's Simpsons run? If so, what was your favorite issue? On a scale of one to "Santa's not real," how sad are you to hear this news? Be sure to let us know in the comments.

And hey, if you really want to feel sad, check out Simpsons showrunner Al Jean discussing a (hypothetical) end to the series.

We're not depressed, you're depressed.

Ah, sheesh. They had one of the greatest stories with "When Bongos Collide", where Itchy and Scratchy come to life, wreak havoc around town, and explode the nuclear plant, giving everyone superpowers, with so many great parody names!

Wow. This is like what happened when Disney got star wars. Maybe new mutants is really canned.

Simpsons comics have actually been pretty good throughout their run. Better than recent episodes. It's a shame. I miss the 90s sometimes.

That's a shame. When I was 8, 9 10, I used to read them all the time. I probably read Simpsons comic more than I watched the Simpsons. But it had a good 25 year run I suppose.

@TheDpool - 100 chronologically numbered issues of a Marvel run in today's market would be some feat, both in patience and possibly reality shifting powers as they restart numbering constantly, and of course they kind of are terrible.
