Alita: Battle Angel was originally going to be released on December 21st, something which would have put it head to head with the likes of Aquaman, Bumblebee, and Mary Poppins Returns. 

20th Century Fox widely made the decision to push the James Cameron-produced anime adaptation back to February 14th, 2019, a slot which worked well for Deadpool back in 2016 and could help ensure that the movie doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Now, it's been given the spotlight on the latest cover for Empire Magazine which you can check out below. 

Alita: Battle Angel features an impressive cast made up of names like Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, and Ed Skrein. Three of them can be seen on the cover below, but it's Salazar's Alita that quite rightly takes centre stage here.

It looks like they've corrected the strange eye/face issue from the first trailer, but I still feel like this film is D.O.A.

They should've pushed it to Summer 2019.

I'm really looking forward to this it looks different when I watched Ghost In The Shell I was disappointed that they made into a generic sci-fi action so I'm hoping this isn't a repeat

While I recognise all the hard work put into this movie, it just looks... not that interesting. Like a generic cyberpunk flick. Maybe fans of the og manga feel different, if that's it, power to them.

Translating successfully a manga/anime, even one relatively grounded like this doesn't seem an easy task to accomplish.
Looks like my chances to see a live action makankosappo are still slim...

The eyes are dumb. Rosita Salazar is a lovely actress who's face they didn't need to cover up with some dodgy CG.

The movie would have cost much less without the CG face. I think the acting, her unique arms, the way she moves and the setting is more than enough to show she is different.

The eyes could have worked better if every cyborg with a robot head had them instead of just Alita. I think less CGI and more dirty sets, costumes and practical effects for the robots would have captured the rundown, broken, hastily made aesthetic of the manga and OVA, the movie looks too clean.
Still, I'll be damned if I don't see it in theaters. I like what I see and I have the crazy notion that if the movie makes good money it could convince some anime studio (like Madhouse) to adapt the manga into a full series.
