Deadline reports that DreamWorks has made a deal with Rupert Sanders to direct a live action adaptation of the Japanese futuristic thriller, with a new script from William Wheeler. The original Ghost In The Shell Manga was written by Masamune Shirow, and the subsequent film adaptation is up there with Akira as a benchmark Anime on which all that followed would be judged against. The story follows a member of an agency known as Section 9 named Motoko Kusanagi, as she searches for a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master. The live action film will be produced by Avi Arad, and Steven Paul.
