ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL International Trailer Features Plenty Of Action-Packed New Footage

The recently released "final" trailer for Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron's Alita: Battle Angel was the best-received look at the live-action manga adaptation yet, so 20th Century Fox has now doubled down and put out an international version which is basically an all-new trailer.

Boasting vastly improved VFX (though Alita's eyes still look like they're floating on her face), the exciting new footage finds our titular amnesiac cyborg (Rosa Salazar) taking the fight to Mahershala Ali and Ed Skrein's sinister villains as she decimates the competition on the Motorball track.

We also get new glimpses of the supporting characters played by Jennifer Connolly and Jackie Earle Haley, as well as some more lethal-looking robotic adversaries for our hero to pummel into oblivion.

Visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY) create a groundbreaking new heroine in ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, an action-packed story of hope, love and empowerment. Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita (Rosa Salazar) is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in.

Everything is new to Alita, every experience a first. As she learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield Alita from her mysterious past while her street-smart new friend, Hugo (Keean Johnson), offers instead to help trigger her memories. A growing affection develops between the two until deadly forces come after Alita and threaten her newfound relationships. It is then that Alita discovers she has extraordinary fighting abilities that could be used to save the friends and family she’s grown to love. Determined to uncover the truth behind her origin, Alita sets out on a journey that will lead her to take on the injustices of this dark, corrupt world, and discover that one young woman can change the world in which she lives.

Alita: Battle Angel opens February 14, 2019 and also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Eiza Gonzalez, Jackie Earle Haley, and Christoph Waltz.

I gotta say I do miss the From Dusk Till Dawn and Desperado days of Robert Rodriguez. All the same I like Once Upon A Time In Mexico, Sin City, and Grindhouse. Maybe a couple of other guilty pleasures or so-so movies as well.

@TheLight - Doesn't Taika Waititi want to make an Akira movie?

@DnA - Yeah, but its Hollywood, so even he can't be trusted with making it stick to the source material.

@TheLight - but... the original movie doesn’t stick to the source material... so... what are you trying to say??
TheLight

@CapnMurphy2021 - The animated movie made some small changes, yes, but it was still much better than some of these adaptations we have today. Even though from what I remember the manga had more side stories and characters that were bettered explored, it still didn't lose the overall theme and entertainment that makes the movie memorable and tolerable even today.

@TheLight - you do realize that the film and the manga that came before it are very different... right?

@CapnMurphy2021 - Yeah, what's your point?

@TheLight - it made pretty big changes... and left out a huge chunk...
and my point should be clear. If it is not... then I guess our lil chat is over :-(

I don't know, the movie bothers me not because of the bad or good CGI but because, much like that shitfest Ready Player One, nothing is GROUNDED. Everything in this movie seems to be totally impossible situations on top of totally impossible situations. Like a CGI studio running totally wild regardless of story.
After a while you just don't give a shit anymore.

They should've pushed this film to Spring 2019.

I think this looks pretty good and I'll give a look when it hits theaters, though I am a little disappointed in some of the CGI work in this trailer, considering Cameron's name is attached.
