This latest TV promo for Rupert Sanders' Ghost in the Shell features some new footage from the film, and kicks-off with a brief clip.

In it, we see Scarlett Johansson's character regain consciousness on an operating table, only to discover that she's been given a new body after a terrorist attack. Her doctor (Juliette Binoche) explains that her mind and spirit are still her own, but, of course, we know she's not being 100% truthful about how things played out.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Rupert Sanders is at the helm of Ghost in the Shell, which also stars Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, “Beat” Takeshi Kitano, Michael Wincott, and Pilou Asbæk, and is set for release on March 31, 2017.

"Scarlett Johansson's The Major" and "Scarlett Johansson's character"... You know, Ror, she does have a name.

...It's Motoko Kusanagi... (I mean, I'm presuming they didn't change it for the movie.)

@Spock0Clock - Sounds like the woman is calling her "Mira".

@TheAmarilloBlack - Oh, IMDb actually lists her as "the Major"....

Well... you win this one, Ror.

I'm so tired of hearing about this movie like it's some big property. A major yawn. Hard pass. Thank you, drive through please.

I'm looking forward to this. I am not a major anime fan, but I like sci-fi and this looks cool enough to give it a shot.

For some baffling reason, Scarlet has the opposite effect to interesting me in this film. I'm not at all sold on this as yet.

Hmm, it seems more and more of a departure from the source material with each new trailer/clip. Not sure how I feel about that. A scared and weeping Major? Will hold judgment until I see it, but I've entered skeptical mode from hyped mode.
