In the season finale of Loki, we were introduced to He Who Remains. A Kang the Conqueror Variant who had managed to create the "Sacred Timeline" and bend reality to his will, his death at the hands of Sylvie led to the Multiverse's rebirth. Now, countless Kang Variants are setting their sights on conquering every reality, and we'll meet one of them in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
Very little is known about this particular Kang Variant, but Jonathan Majors is set to reprise the role.
Talking to Games Radar, the actor dropped a few hints about what fans can expect. "I felt pretty loose and free on the Loki set! The MCU and all the powers-that-be are just so open-hearted," the actor said before describing how his approach differed in the Ant-Man threequel. "The character is different so you move a different way; my psychology has shifted because of the character."
"He’s just a different guy," Majors continued. "He Who Remains is not in Ant-Man. It’s Kang. But the people surrounding us - the cast, my leading man, Paul Rudd - that’s different. Because Paul’s not Tom [Hiddleston]. This is a movie, not a TV show. I’ve been here since the beginning and I came in at the end on Loki."
This Kang could be the Conqueror or one who calls the Quantum Realm home. Another possibility is that he's the scientist Nathaniel Richards from the 31st Century, but Majors does specifically refer to him as "Kang" in this interview, which is interesting.
We're excited to see more from the character, though, especially as it's become apparent the groundwork is being laid for Kang to become the MCU's next big bad in the wake of Thanos' defeat.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released on July 28, 2023.
