Will AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM Include A Cameo Appearance From Michael Keaton's Batman?

Despite reports earlier this year that Michael Keaton's Batman has been cut from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, it now sounds as if we can expect to see his Dark Knight meet Arthur Curry after all...

Earlier this year, reliable scooper @MyTimeToShineH claimed that Michael Keaton's Batman had been cut from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The reason given was the release date changes that saw The Flash pushed to next June, three months after James Wan's Aquaman sequel will now splash into theaters.

The story made headlines at the time, and we weren't overly surprised to learn that the original big screen Batman might be left on the cutting room floor. While it's a tremendous waste in many ways, it wouldn't make any sense for Keaton to show up anywhere before The Flash rewrites reality and replaces Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader with his Bruce Wayne.

The Flash's delay is believed to be a result of Warner Bros. looking to put as much space as possible between Ezra Miller's ongoing legal issues and the Fastest Man Alive's arrival in theaters. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may suffer because of that, while Batgirl's planned release on HBO Max this Christmas now appears to be off the table.

However, there may now be some good news for the upcoming Aquaman follow-up.

Leaker Undercover Audience has claimed that a recent test screening featured two scenes with Keaton's Dark Knight. "Once in the first act to suggest [Arthur] Curry that there is something wrong with the Earth's core and probably the [Atlantians] are behind it. Second, in the epilogue during Curry's speech."

It's going to be pretty confusing for regular moviegoers for Keaton to just show up as Batman, but the questions his appearance pose could help increase interest in The Flash. This was just a test screening, of course, and presumably, the same one that included Amber Heard's Mera for as much as 25 minutes.

When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation.

In addition to Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, the sequel will also include the return of Patrick Wilson (Ocean Master), Amber Heard (Mera), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta), Randall Park (Dr. Stephen Shin), and Temuera Morrison (Tom Curry). New additions to the cast include Jani Zhao (Sentimentos), Indya Moore (Pose), and Vincent Regan (300)

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to be released on March 17, 2023.

I think having a new Batman appear all of the sudden is probably not gonna be as confusing as some might think.

The general audience probably doesn't care as recasts happen all the time, and the fans of CBMs all have seen Spider-Man and Doctor Strange and whatnot and know all about multiverse shenanigans.

Now what would be confusing (but fun) is if they just replaced Heard with Keaton.

I love Keaton but this sounds bad. Keaton is def doing all these projects for the paycheck.

@micvalpro - Yeah. He's a solid actor and can be funny and somewhat intimidating at times and even lift up otherwise mediocre material. (His performance in Clean and Sober is great in an otherwise meh ok film, for example.)

I just don't see him giving a shit about these cameos or these movies other than quick shooting times and an easy paycheck.

I don't know how DC can navigate around Ezra Miller without reshooting the entire film...

I think they just have to ride this out and recast after

"The Flash's delay is believed to be a result of Warner Bros. looking to put as much space as possible between Ezra Miller's ongoing legal issues and the Fastest Man Alive's arrival in theaters"

This is the most stupid theory without proof I have ever read in my entire life.

WB's DC universe or whatever it is, is so messed up they're resorting to an unrelated couple of movies from over 30 years ago using a 70 year old actor to try to hype people up.

None of this desperation would have been necessary if WB/Zack Snyder didn't do such a horrible job at casting the anchors of it's universe years ago. Out of the principles, only Momoa and Gadot are left and neither are exactly thespians.

The lack of continuity and the terrible casting choices have doomed WB/DC and continues to do so. The MCU is far from perfect, but they have succeeded in so many ways where DC has repeatedly and utterly failed. A total reboot, ignoring ALL past incarnations of characters is the only way forward for DC imo. Burn it to the ground from the top down. Get some real leadership and direction and start fresh.

@Feralwookiee - I think they should atleast have some sort of endgame movie in the style of Apokalips War.

Aquaman and Wonder Woman can lead a team (Young Justice and Birds of Prey?), comprising of Blue Beetle, Supergirl, Shazam, Batgirl, Huntress and Black Canary into battle

And putting Keaton's Batman in the Mobius Chair would be fun too imo.

The DC film universe is a flaming stinking mess! This is so ridiculous! They have surpassed the Marvel Fox Universe as the most dysfunctional when it comes to continuity!
