Avengers movie rumors are in full swing, even thought production isn't scheduled to begin until early 2011. Last week, AvengersNews.com reported another tidbit from their insider source: Actresses Alice Eve, Malin Akerman and Rachel Nichols were being looked at by Marvel Studios for an important role in their movie universe. The "female heroine role" has yet to be disclosed by the studio, but general speculation is leaning towards either Janet Van Dyne/The Wasp or S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel.

Today, AvengersNews released information that the two frontrunners for the part are Alice Eve (She's Out of My Leaugue) and Malin Akerman (Watchmen). From their studio source:

“Marvel is searching for the perfect candidate for this particular role. They are important in their universe and whichever actress gets cast will potentially have the largest female role in the film.”

I'm so curious on what this role is. Any guesses Multi? I'm more of a DC guy than a Marvel guy, so I have no idea what the role could be.

As DOGS said above, judging by the info in the story I just posted it looks like it will probably be Ms. Marvel! I like Akerman but would have to go with Eve if that is indeed the case!

I haven't seen Alice Eve act, but I have for Akerman, so I'm gonna go with Eve. And judging by the "Possible largest female role in the film" statement, I wouldn't count Wasp out of the equation just yet.

I think Alice Eve would make a perfect Wasp (die the hair black), while Malin Akerman can be either Ms. Marvel or Sharon Carter.

Really hoping neither is playing The Wasp, I still want Morena Baccarin for that. Either would be fine by me for Ms Marvel, can't say I'm too familiar with Alice Eve, but she certainly looks the part.

Judging from what I've seen in "She's Out of My League", Alice Eve might be more of a diverse actress than I give her credit for.

I think Ackerman is prettier but she's a terrible actress so I'd go with Alice Eve. And like others have said, I think this is for Ms. Marvel.

I wish they had approached other actresses, though.

I'm guessing Wasp, I can't see them wanting to outshine a hero that was originally an Avenger with someone who could have a small part and a bigger movie later. I think it would be more wise to have Wasp be the biggest female lead, and not give her a movie, and then make Ms. Marvel smaller and give her a movie later.

Ohhh, haha. THX LEE :) Ya, I saw WATCHMEN but I didn't recognize her, haha. Well in those 2 pictures AKERMAN is hotter but AlICE would be a better SHANON CARTER :) Neither of them for Ms. Marvel though. And LEE how come your casting is always top notch? haha :P
