With Marvel Studios releasing their much anticipated THOR & Captain America: The First Avenger films in the infamous 3D, it comes no surprise that their following, most anticipated film of all, The Avengers will get the overly used treatment as well. And now according to ShowBizz 411:

"I am told definitively that Marvel’s “The Avengers” will be shot by director Joss Whedon in 3 D."

It seems with Marvel teaming up with Disney, all the films including potential movie adaptions for Ant-Man, Black Panther will be in 3D. What do you think?

Starring Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America) Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Incredible Hulk), and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) in Joss Whedon's vision, The Avengers assembles in theaters May 4, 2012.

This is horrible news im sick of spending extra money to wear stupid glasses that hamper my movie going experience. 3D is a gimick just as it was 20 years ago and I cannot wait for it to go away.

the only way its going to be good in 3D if its been shot in 3D. if they do it 2D and convert the movie in 3D it will suck big time. anyway most likely they going to have a 2D version in the cinema so i aint bothered

No reason to be mad at this. Just go watch it in 2D like a normal person.

I don't know if I like this or not because 3D IMO is Annoying and does nothing for me but on the other hand it will mean Marvel will ge more money and they will do sequels and spin-offs to the Avengers.

Anytime something gets as over-used as 3D is being now with movies then you know its just a fad that will eventually loose its appeal. My only concern is when it is released on DVD how can I watch a 3D movie on my TV if it is not some fancy 3D TV??

@halik: "mehhhh" /sheep

Why the hell are you spending extra money on them then? Just see it in normal 2D FFS.

You are the perfect patsy - automatically consume whatever you're given without thinking.

You DO have a choice you know. If you continue to watch movies in 3D when you really don't want to, then it's no good blaming the studios - if you lube up, bend over and pucker up WILLINGLY then don't complain when you get [frick]ed in the ass. :)

jazzman@ What you said! They can make all he movies they want into 3D, that doesn't mean I have to watch them that way. The only thing that bothers me is they typically will have the IMAX only show the 3D and not 2D version. I want to see the regular version in IMAX!

Why does this not come as a shock I mean we already have a Justin Bieber movie coming out in 3D, seems everything else is.

Still going to see it in 2D, not risking getting vertigo again like what happened to me after seeing Alice in Wonderland (Which I was forced to see in 3D cause no movie theater in a 30 mile radius was showing it in 2D AT ALL), and 3D prices are already too much anyways.

I really can't comment on whether I think 3D is good or bad because the only movie I have seen that was SHOT in 3D as apposed to being converted afterwards was Avatar, and that worked brilliantly. BUT, that was a different planet and was full of colorful plants and shit, I dunno how something like Avengers/Cap will work.

3D adds depth to the picture, making it much more realistic. why are so many people whining about it? you dont even notice the fact your wearing glasses! clash of the titans was shit because it was converted, if its filomed in 3D its amazing. it brought me into the film. love it! [frick] you Yelsaeb and StrangemannX09

My impaired left eye renders me incappable of seeing 3-D effects. Even if I could see them, it's still an annoying gimmick mostly. The only superhero movie I can think of that's a natural fit for 3-D is Green Lantern. 3-d constructs would be awesome. But Cap, Thor, and Avengers really don't seem like theyh'd benefit from it.

@Keith M You're a total idiot. A lot of theaters only offer 3D showings.

obviously if I have the ability to see it in 2d I will. If you think studios care what audiences think they wouldn't do a lot of shit they do. 3D was around before and it failed so if they cared why bring it back? It's a cheap gimmick they can use to earn extra gross so they tack it on. Obviously your very one minded and looking to argue when you know very little about the industry. The movie industry is failing that's why their making so many superhero movies now because it's the one genre gurantted to sell big time. Even when a comic film is low grossing it's still very high to other genres. Instead of just coming at people over the internet like you're some cool guy, maybe you should inform yourself of the topic you seek to argue about.

ToMMan-Did you jus say [frick]me. I'm sorry but BIGBMH said it best 3D is just an annoying gimmick. It doesn't seem like it fits the Avengers.

Clash Of The Titans 3D ... Shoot me instead.
KeithM
KeithM - 8/10/2010, 9:44 AM
@halik: What does any of that have to do with your complaint?

I'm very well informed thanks. Perhaps you'd better get a grip and realise what it is we're actually arguing about, because you seem to have gone astray a bit...

I know it's a cheap gimmick, which is why I've only ever seen two movies in 3D (Avatar and Toy Story 3), but I'm not going to complain that "im sick of spending extra money" (sic) when I simply don't have to. Only an idiot would spend extra money and then complain about it when they have a choice. Obvious really.

Complain about 3D for valid reasons all you want, and I'll be right with you, but don't complain about "having" to buy tickets for it when you don't have to. That's YOUR choice, nobody else's.

Studios generally don't care what audiences think, correct - they only care about what audiences spend their money on. Or don't spend their money on...

If 3D is their way of getting bums in seats and saving their industry, then great - make some 3D movies worth actually seeing in 3D (or better still, just make movies worth seeing period) and I'll happily go along.

But as long as people like you keep paying to see cheap and nasty post-production versions then you only have yourself (and people like you) to blame.

Don't buy into it. Simples.

I actually like 3D movies, and I don't think it's just a fad. They're making 3D televisions now. I think 3D is what's going to separate movies in the future, like black & white vs. color, then standard screen vs. widescreen. Eventually the new stuff becomes the standard.

Ranger14 - 8/10/2010, 9:45 AM

One that note:

FoxForce5
FoxForce5 - 8/10/2010, 9:52 AM
As long as it gets SHOT in 3D and not CONVERTED into 3D then we're good. As for Thor & Cap, I'll probably stick with the 2D.
KeithM
KeithM - 8/10/2010, 9:52 AM
@Ranger14: That's fair enough, but it still doesn't change the fact that if he really felt that strongly about it, he could simply choose not to buy a ticket at all. IF he felt that strongly...
