The importance of Rotten Tomatoes in recent years has shaken up the movie industry in a huge way; what was once just a tool to find out what critics thought of a movie is now something that can help a little-known release with some serious acclaim find the audience it deserves, or tank a blockbuster that simply doesn't live up to expectations.
Some movies are, of course, review-proof, and
Avengers: Endgame is among them.
The Marvel Studios release is expected to do big business this weekend at the worldwide box office and with a glowing Rotten Tomatoes score of 98%, it's fair to say that the critics love this one (you can find a full roundup of spoiler-free reviews by clicking
here).
This number will obviously change over the next few days, but with Rotten Tomatoes now making quite the show when it comes to unveiling a movie's score, this may be the only number that matters! Regardless, we can expect it to be officially Certified Fresh very soon.

There Are No Post-Credits Scenes...Yet
Now that so many critics and invited guests have seen
Avengers: Endgame, it's inevitable that spoilers will start finding their way online over the next few days. However, in a bid to protect at least some of the movie's secrets, Marvel Studios chose not to include any post-credits scenes during last night's screening and instead cut them off for a cast speech.
This must be an indication that the mid and after-credits scenes contain some huge reveals that the Russo Brothers would prefer to stay offline for as long as possible (it won't be easy seeing as the movie arrives in the UK and a number of other countries tomorrow night).
The question is, what could be so secretive about them? Well, we may get an X-Men or Fantastic Four tease - which seems somewhat unlikely if we're being honest - or an epilogue of sorts which has major ramifications for both the events of this film and whatever comes next. I guess we'll have to wait and see but there's not long to go until we find out!
It's Not The Movie You're Expecting
If there's one prevailing opinion among those who saw the movie last night, it's that it won't be what any of us are expecting. One critic goes so far as to say that none of the theories which have done the rounds will have prepared you for what's to come, while it's also said that 90% of the footage in the trailers actually comes from the first fifteen minutes!
"You’ll learn more about the other movies while this one unfolds," Fandango's Erik Davis teases before adding,
"Do not go in expecting Infinity War part two. The two films are so different, yet compliment each other in all the best ways. In terms of which MCU movie to watch beforehand... honestly, all of them." Alas, we don't really have time for that now.
These comments don't necessarily confirm those time-travel theories but it does appear as if the legacy of the MCU will be explored in a big way over the course of this epic finale.
It May Leave You An Emotional Wreck
It's no secret that social media reactions tend to be a little over the top and some critics seem unable to keep themselves under control when they talk about a movie like this being the best ever or an experience which is similar to some sort of religious awakening!
However, pretty much everyone says they were in tears on a number of occasions and while no context was provided, it definitely seems like
Avengers: Endgame will take us on an emotional rollercoaster which definitely differentiates it from the Marvel movies that have preceded it.
Does that mean some of the characters we love are going to die? Time will tell on that front.
It Delivers An Epic, Satisfying Ending
With
Avengers: Endgame billed as an epic conclusion to over a decade's worth of stories, the thing most fans are wondering is whether it manages to live up to that promise and actually deliver an ending which will leave moviegoers feeling fully satisfied.
Well, it thankfully appears as if Marvel Studios has exceeded all of our expectations.
One critic describes it as
"an EPIC ending to the Infinity Saga" and another promises that,
"If Infinity War is the brawn, Endgame is the brains. And wow, what an ending!" In other words, it seems as if Robert Downey Jr.'s comments about those final eight minutes being among the MCU's best were accurate.
You Won't Be Disappointed
So, it's a satisfying conclusion but does the movie itself deliver? Well, not a single critic has found anything bad to say thus far and it would be genuinely shocking for
Avengers: Endgame to hit Rotten Tomatoes and not be in the high 90s if these early verdicts are any indication.
"It’s the most emotional, most epic, MCU film," Peter Sciretta claims.
"A tribute to ten years of this universe and holy shit the great fan service in this movie." That sounds good as does Scott Mantz's remarks which say that,
"It’s a *BEAUTIFUL* film! Fun, smart, clever, BRILLIANT! Perfect blend of action, heart & humor! This is as good as it gets! Greatest superhero movie EVER!"
Honestly, Thursday can't get here soon enough and we'll have much more on the movie for you soon. For now, continue reading below to check out more Tweets from a number of critics...
