AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Here's Where The Adolescent Groot After-Credits Scene Fits Into The Movie

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 featured a lot of after-credits scenes but many fans were disappointed by the fact none of them set the stage for Avengers: Infinity War. Or so we thought! During a recent interview to promote the Blu-ray release of the movie, the filmmaker confirmed that the exchange between Star-Lord and the Adolescent Groot actually take place during the events of that release.

When the similarities between that Groot and the one seen in Infinity War, Gunn confirmed: "He’s exactly the same. That’s exactly the Groot we designed for Infinity War." Asked to elaborate on how the scene ties to the superhero ensemble, he added: "Well, basically those are at the same time." So, we can look forward to seeing Joe and Anthony Russo exploring this grouchy version of Groot!

It remains to be seen how old Groot will be in Guardians Vol. 3 but chances are Gunn wants to explore a different version of the sentient tree yet again. We'll just have to wait and see on that but the director has confirmed that he played an active role in the handling of the team in Avengers: Infinity War so fans of the team - and Groot in particular - have no reason to worry about their portrayal here.

I'm a little disappointed we're getting adolescent groot in this movie as opposed to Adult groot. Especially if we are getting Hulk V Groot like Vin Diesel teased. But it's such a small thing It doesn't bother me too much. Only enough though. I want to see all the heroes in their prime, but we don't get that...

This makes me wonder how useful Groot will be. And I know how desperately people want this movie to be serious all the way through, and while I want that to same degree, I want the characters' to retain their charm and sensibilities. Because if the Guardians are just showing up for fight sequences, then what's the point. Bring on some cute, adolescent Groot material. Just balance the banter and fun character moments with the dire nature of the film, then I'm good.

I'm fine with this, after all, the original Groot did die. This is a great way of showing that this one is a different being.

The pairings in this movie is CRAZY
IM/Drax
IM/Dr. Strange
Dr.Strange/Spider-Man
Star-Lord/Thor
Thor/Rocket

Those are confirmed. Also it's been confirmed that Nebula has a new bff(Black Widow?)

@ATrueHero1987 - She said it was unexpected, so I think it's unlikely that it's another badass heroine. I think maybe something like Hulk or whatever. Something really weird. I'm not opposed to a grotesque all female team up for a section in the movie, but those are kind of the obvious goals, if you know what I mean.

@ATrueHero1987 - I think pairing Nebula with Wanda would be great.
I prefer the more varied pairings.
Widow and Nebula are both combat fighters which is quite boring.

I wonder if they'll use his teenage angst as a form of comedy relief.

Teenage Groot meeting a teen Peter Parker could make for a great scene.

Also, just watched War for The Planet of the Apes. The guy who is mo-capping Corvus Glaive did the Mo-Cap for the Ape, Rocket, and it's honestly a very good performance. This is a little out of his ballpark, but I'm curious to see if he can inject, for lack of a better word, the swagger that kind of came along with Rocket. To be able to have personality and express, while doing an ape, where you are limited in expression, especially compared to Ceasar, is impressive. Also makes me wonder how impressive Thanos' CGI performance will be when it's all said and done. Because some of the apes in 'War' looked real, especially that Orangutan.

I'm sorry, but as excited as I am that Infinity War is finally here I can't help but be a little disappointed that we're not getting red white and blue cap, long haired and caped classic Thor, a full on true comic book representative armored Thanos, and a massive Groot in this movie. As ungrateful as that sounds, I just want Avengers 1 character designs for this movie and apparently that's too much to ask (aside from cap's no eared helmet)

@TheMfayz -
I think they're saving that for the finale. think about it, everyone suits up for what may be their final battle, Cap gets his old WW2 costume, Tony gives him back the shield, Thor summons his armor (maybe his hair grows back in the process? I dunno), Strange makes Groot grow with magic or something, and Cap yells "Avengers...Assemble!" as they launch their atack on Thanos.
