Marvel Producer Urged The Russo Brothers To Not Kill [SPOILER] In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War has been in theaters for nearly a month, but new details on the film's production continue to come out, and now Marvel Studios' Nate Moore reveals he wanted one hero spared.
Avengers: Infinity War certainly brought joy to many fan's hearts for uniting nearly every character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also had several heart wrenching moments, and nothing caused more emotional distress among audiences that the numerous deaths that occurred.
While the loss of characters like Gamora and Loki earlier in the film were emotional, their deaths were but the first of many that would follow, as Thanos collected the Infinity Stones and eventually wiped out half of all life in the universe with a snap of his fingers.
Among the characters eliminated after the snap were most of the Guardians of the Galaxy and the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. While the creative forces behind the Marvel film don’t seem to have felt any pushback over most of the characters they killed, it seems producer Nate Moore urged directors Anthony and Joe Russo to spare one hero.
“I knew pretty well what they were talking about and personally urged them to reconsider,” Moore told the Huffington Post, when asked about the death of Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther. “But the storytelling made sense, so I love that we got to see a little bit more of Wakanda in that film, and I hope to see how they’re going to resolve that.”
Though T’Challa will more than likely be brought back to life, the Marvel producer went on to explain that the hero’s death was the right choice, as it helped make the ending more interesting.
“I think ultimately it made for a really interesting, almost more complicated ending to that film because of how well ‘Black Panther’ was embraced by audiences. Again, personally painful, but I understand the reasoning.”
So, while the passing of Boseman’s character will probably prove less than permanent, we can expect to see his death have significant ramifications on the nation of Wakanda and the wider MCU when Avengers 4 comes around.
