The Marvel Games panel at San Diego Comic-Con next week promises all sorts of exciting new content and surprises for the latest Marvel video games, and now Square Enix has confirmed that fans will be treated to the first public gameplay reveal for
Marvel's Avengers.
Outlining their plans for SDCC 2019, Square Enix promised a "special presentation" from Shaun Escayg, creative director at Crystal Dynamics, including new information about the game and the first public unveiling of gameplay. However, only those who actually attend the Hall H panel on Thursday will be able to see it as it sounds like Square Enix has no plans to release the footage online.
Marvel previously stated that they will provide livestream coverage from around the convention, but didn't specifically say if the panels themselves would be shown. The Marvel Games panel is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. in Hall H. In addition to
Marvel's Avengers, other games being shown off include
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order and
Marvel's Iron Man VR.
Marvel's Avengers was officially unveiled at E3 last month, but we were shown only cinematic footage from the game. Gameplay was shown off behind closed doors at the event, however, but it's unclear if what is being shown at the San Diego Comic-Con will be the same footage or something different entirely.
Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Marvel's Avengers is slated to release on May 15, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
