VIDEO GAMES: MARVEL'S AVENGERS Gameplay To Be Revealed During Marvel Games SDCC '19 Panel

The Marvel Games panel at San Diego Comic-Con next week promises all sorts of exciting new content and surprises for the latest Marvel video games, and now Square Enix has confirmed that fans will be treated to the first public gameplay reveal for Marvel's Avengers.

Outlining their plans for SDCC 2019, Square Enix promised a "special presentation" from Shaun Escayg, creative director at Crystal Dynamics, including new information about the game and the first public unveiling of gameplay. However, only those who actually attend the Hall H panel on Thursday will be able to see it as it sounds like Square Enix has no plans to release the footage online.

Marvel previously stated that they will provide livestream coverage from around the convention, but didn't specifically say if the panels themselves would be shown. The Marvel Games panel is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. in Hall H. In addition to Marvel's Avengers, other games being shown off include Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order and Marvel's Iron Man VR.

Marvel's Avengers was officially unveiled at E3 last month, but we were shown only cinematic footage from the game. Gameplay was shown off behind closed doors at the event, however, but it's unclear if what is being shown at the San Diego Comic-Con will be the same footage or something different entirely.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel's Avengers is slated to release on May 15, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

This wasn’t really interesting to me. I was hyped when Square announced it, but it looks like they only were invoked in the announcement tease, this is not Square-level animation.

Maybe when the online aspects aren’t revealed I’ll look into this. I fear the campaign will be super linear, like a glorified Ultimate Alliancewith only 5 options.

That first trailer didn't exactly get me hyped. I'll need to see more actual gameplay to hopefully give me reasons to be willing to look past some of the questionable character designs.

Also I really need to know more about the multiplayer/online part of the game, and what their long term plans for the whole thing are. I'm not generally opposed to games being released with "roadmaps" for future content, but... it's also not neccessarily something that makes me more excited.

@Kyos - yeah. Like i know they said its a story told over time in chapters, but how much do we get out the box? And is each chapter a full story itself, like the movies?

Hoping this game is good. Was disappointed that the entire game isn't a multiplayer game.
