Michael Waldron started his writing career working on Adult Swim's Rick and Morty, later taking charge of pro wrestling TV show Heels. However, his big break came when Marvel Studios hired him as Head Writer on Disney+ series Loki.
That received rave reviews and led to Waldron signing an overall deal with Marvel Studios and Disney. After writing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, he was tasked with penning Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's mystery Star Wars movie (which we've since learned has been put on hold by Lucasfilm).
Of course, Waldron is plenty busy as he's in the midst of writing Avengers: Secret Wars, the movie that's going to wrap up the Multiverse Saga.
Deadline is now reporting that Waldron has launched his own feature film and TV production company, Anomaly Pictures, with his producing partner Adam Fasullo. According to the trade, their hope for this banner is that it can establish popcorn entertainment as prestige entertainment, with the question at the heart of every project being, "What if this was good?"
Waldron has also renewed his overall deal with Disney and Marvel Studios, meaning he will continue to be a big part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may have divided fans to some extent, but ended up being Marvel Studios' highest-grossing movie of 2022, beating Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
It's unclear what the future holds for Waldron in the MCU beyond Avengers: Secret Wars, though we're sure something is being lined up for him. With rumblings that movie is going to be split in two, it could be a very busy few years for the writer as the conclusion to the Multiverse Saga is likely to be massive.
