SPOILERS: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - Unanswered Questions We Have After Watching The Movie

Avengers: Infinity War is now in theaters and while there's no denying that the Marvel movie is a masterpiece, it has left us with a pretty long list of unanswered - and somewhat frustrating - questions...

Avengers: Infinity War is a masterpiece. In fact, an argument could be made that it's the greatest superhero movie of all-time and there's no denying that Joe and Anthony Russo have delivered an epic, sprawling tale which delivers in almost every respect and will send fans home happy...and shocked!

Despite that, there are some moments in the Marvel Studios movie which left us with some pretty significant questions. Some are related to plot holes and others either tie into Avengers 4 or the wider Cinematic Universe as a whole. For example, why were certain characters M.I.A. while others were used in unexpected ways? Oh, and are all those characters really gone from the MCU for good?

So, to check out this full list of unanswered questions we have about Avengers: Infinity War - many of which we think you won't have thought of given how much is going on in the movie - simply click on either one of the buttons below. We also attempt to come up with some answers for these as there may be an explanation! Once you've done that, share your thoughts in the comments section.

How Does Thanos Know Who Tony Stark Is?

Shockingly, Thanos calls Iron Man "Stark" and confirms that he knows who he is and that he too has been burdened with knowledge. So, with that in mind, what could he have been referring to? Is he looking back at The Avengers when his army was destroyed by a nuke or has the Mind Stone given him that extra knowledge? I can't help but think that there may be more to this than meets the eye.

Where Is Valkyrie?

Avengers: Infinity War kicks off with Thanos laying waste to what's left of Asgard but it quickly becomes clear that he's only killed half of them. That must mean that while Thor and Heimdall remained behind to try and fight the Mad Titan, Vaklyrie and Korg must have escaped with the rest of the refugees. So, while we don't get to see her here, chances are she'll fly in to help out in the fourth instalment.

Will Another Infinity Gauntlet Come Into Play?

During Thor's visit to Nidivellir, we see that Eitri has forged another Infinity Gauntlet and it's easy to imagine that it could somehow come into play in Avengers 4, especially as the one Thanos has appears to have been destroyed. Then again, Earth's Mightiest Heroes simply using the Stones again to bring everyone back might be a little too straightforward and something fans will find a tad predictable.

Will Gamora Be Resurrected?

One of the most shocking moments in the movie comes when Thanos throws Gamora to her death in order to retrieve the Soul Stone. What fans want to know now is whether or not that's really the end for the Guardian! Looking to the comics and that scene after the villain snaps his fingers, there's a very good chance that her soul is trapped within the Stone and that will lead to her resurrection.

Can The Vision Be Saved?

Shuri was at least halfway through The Vision's surgery when Corvus Glaive interrupted and when Thanos later tears the Mind Stone from his forehead, he's left a greyed out and very dead looking shell. However, could T'Challa's sister have done enough to mean that powering the android up with another energy source will bring him back in some form? Honestly, the damage looks way too severe.

What Happened On Xandar?

Thor mentions that Thanos laid waste to Xandar while retrieving the Power Stone but what happened there? We never get to see and that means the fate of Nova Prime and the Nova Corps is very much unclear. Thanos would have only wiped out half the planet but his hatred for an institution like this would have no doubt led to him killing them all. Hopefully, that leads to the arrival of THE Nova.

How Will Iron Man And Nebula Escape Titan?

As of right now, Iron Man and Nebula remain trapped on Titan after being defeated by Thanos. It's an unexpected team-up and one with a lot of potential but how will they escape? Nebula's ship was destroyed when she crashed it into the Mad Titan and the Milano could have been destroyed when that moon his the surface, so perhaps it's up to Thor to travel to the planet with Stormbreaker?

Have The Infinity Stones Been Destroyed?

After Thanos snaps his fingers, the Infinity Gauntlet appears to have been destroyed and the Stones are now dull in colour. He does, of course, still manage to use them to teleport away but have they been rendered useless or do they simply need time to recharge? Those not factoring into the sequel would certainly be an interesting twist and one which would ensure the movie is a totally different beast.

Will Captain America Ever Get His Shield Back?

Avengers: Infinity War doesn't deliver the Captain America and Iron Man reunion we've all been waiting for so that's presumably going to happen in Avengers 4 now. When it does, though, will we finally see Steve Rogers back in his suit and ready to wield his shield again? You'd have to hope so as it won't be quite the same watching him go toe to toe with the Mad Titan in his beaten up costume.

Why Didn't Nick Fury Contact Captain Marvel Before Now?

There have been a lot of world-ending threats in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so why has Nick Fury waited until he started dissolving before reaching out to Carol Danvers? Surely she would have come in handy when the Chitauri were invading or Ultron attacked, for example? Well, this is presumably something we'll get an explanation for in the character's solo movie when it's released next March.

What Comes Next For The Red Skull?

The Red Skull makes his surprise return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Infinity War but does he have a future in this world? Has he now been freed from watching over the Soul Stone and returned to Earth or will he remain there only for Captain America to cross paths with him when The Avengers travel to the planet in the next movie? It's hard to say so we'll just have to wait and see.

Will The Dead Heroes Return?

On the one hand, common sense says that all those characters who turned to dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War will return, especially as Spider-Man also has a movie coming out next year! However, Marvel runs the risk of really frustrating moviegoers by cheapening their respective demises. Then again, we can probably expect plenty of permanent deaths in Avengers 4 regardless.

When Will Ant-Man And The Wasp Be Set?

With no sign of Scott Lang in the movie, all we know is that he made a deal with the government because being on the run and going against the Sokovia Accords proved to be too much of a strain on them all. The question is, when will Ant-Man's sequel be set? My guess is that it will take place before Avengers: Infinity War before the disappearances all take place at the end or in the after-credits scene.

Is Loki Really Dead?

The God of Mischief has "died" on quite a few occasions in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and none of them have been permanent. While it's entirely feasible that he faked his demise at the hands of Thanos, to go down that route again would cheapen the movie's opening and rob the Mad Titan's actions of an awful lot of impact. As a result, it's safe to say that the fan-favourite villain is finally dead.

What's The Deal With The Hulk?

Throughout the course of Avengers: Infinity War, Bruce Banner is having some serious issues transforming into the Green Goliath and he flat out refuses to come out and play at various points in the movie. What's going on with him? Well, common sense says that he's terrified of Thanos; he received a nasty beating from him in the opening so the question now is, will he get his revenge?

What Does Doctor Strange Know That We Don't?

Doctor Strange travelled to the future to see every possible outcome of the battle between The Avengers and Thanos and found only one where they could win. When he tells Tony that letting the villain have the Time Stone was the only way, does that mean it was better to save at least half the universe or that letting the Mad Titan enact his plan would lead to the heroes ultimately winning?

Was the army they were fighting in Wakanda bonded with Symbiotes? They kinda had the eyes and teeth. Is this how the life foundation snags one in the Venom flick?

The more I think about Infinity War, the more I’m just blown away something like this exists. I keep thinking stuff fans point out & stuff in the film.

Like it hit me yesterday that Bruce Banner was in the other room listening to Rhodes talk to Ross. Wish there was a line Bruce asked to Rhodes something like how he’s been doing or how do you know Ross.

@regularmovieguy - No that Bruce didn’t ask Rhodes about Ross

No way Bruce would show himself to Ross. Holy shit that would be bad

@LEVITIKUZ - seriously. You think Ross is on the warpath for Cap? If he saw Banner he would’ve sent EVERYTHING after him.

I feel like Strange giving up the stone was indeed part of the plan. Let Thanos win the first battle so that they can win afterwards. Just like Tony said in the Avengers:"If we cant protect the earth , then you can be damn sure we'll avenge it"

@MeAreLegend - the one win outcome Strange saw was Stark being the main player in defeating Thanos. He could not let Stark be killed at that moment (strangled by Thanos). The only way to save him was to give Thanos what he wanted.

@DarthLaney - Oh yes. I feel like Doctor Strange's actions in this movie and everything he did after he went through the different 14 million possibilities are very important in stopping thanos. Like he could have easily prevented Star Lord from messind up their plan, and of course not give thanos the time stone. Its all because of that one scenario where they won.

I wonder how hard it mustve been for Strange to sacrifice billions so that they could win later on

When Peter hugged Tony and said he didn’t want to go:

The way Peter was laying down when he disappeared reminded me of the Death of Spider-Man arc from a few years ago.

@Nightwing1015 - Yeah. They made his scene extra slow and drawn out so everyone can feel those feels, man.

@Lunataari - agreed but I believe His Spidey senses sensed the impending doom which is why he felt sick instead of just instantly vanishing. He felt it was coming

@Nightwing1015 - Would that scene have been as powerful if Tony and Peter did not form a relationship in Civil War and Homecoming?

@Nightwing1015 - Tom Holland delivered an excellent performance!! He is Spider-Man!
