Editorial: Which Hero(ine)'s Should We Realistically Expect To See In The Avengers Sequels?

Taking a look at the current roster (while impressive, also sort of . . . disappointing), and what we know of the story line, functionality, etc., who could we expect to actually see in any Avengers sequels we may get? Captain Marvel? Ant-man, Wasp, and Ultron . . . subsequently The Vision? Read on and leave your comments.

With the Avengers well on it's way, and very. Very, VERY highly anticipated by CBM goers and all, most people who . . . well, live, basically, and have access to media, know that the roster currently comprises of (in order of cinematic popularity) Tony Stark, Ironman; Bruce Banner, The Incredible Hulk; Steve Rodgers, Captain America; Thor Odinson, Thor; Natasha Rominoff, Black Widow; and Clint Barton, Hawkeye; as well as S.H.I.E.L.D directer Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D agents Phil Coulson, and Mariah Hill. This is impressive, sure. But what about the original Avengers? Where is the fabled relationship of the team, Hank Pym, Ant-Man (and Yellow-Jacket, and Giant-Man, and the creater of Ultron who is one of the Avengers' biggest foes); and Janet Van Dyne, the Wasp? Did Marvel make a grave mistake in not including these characters which in thier own way were a piece of the spine that held the Avengers together in thier orginal outting? Or is there something more behind this exclusion? Did Marvel intentionally leave these characters out for future development of the plot, in sequels that may be hard to keep grounded to Earth once the Avengers have all learned how to play (generally) "nice" with eachother? I think we can very plausibly expect to see, possibly in the very next sequel, Ant-man and the Wasp come on to the big screen and cause a huge commotion when Hank Pym makes a scheme to put the Avengers at thier knees; but Janet finds out and tries to stop him. This is the moment never forgotten: where Hank Pym infamously struck his wife. Would this lead to a turmoil not only among the couple, but the Avengers entire? Could it lead to a certain puplic recognition of The Avengers as being a disfuntional, incompetent, and dangerous gethering of beings to powerful to be stopped?

Ultimately, speculation can only be just that for now. I like to speculate, though. I like to imagine Black-Panther stalking in the shadows of Stark Tower right next to the Avengers, while they are completely unaware of him, and then playfully pouncing on them to prove that he is not to be intervined with, and then later asking for thier help when the Hank-Pym created Ultron is seeking out his nation's most prized possession, Vibranium, for some dark scheme to destroy all sentient life. I like the Idea of Namor being arrogant and attacking the Avengers simply for flying thier Quinjet over "his ocean". I like the idea of Captain Marvel being braught in to the Avengers equation in an effort to stop the Skrull race from igniting war with the Kree, but failing, and then seeing the Avengers deal with an inter-galactic war, which they technically have no place in, and then seeing the consequences: Secret Invasion. But, all is speculation. So I ask you- the CBM enthusiasts united: Who do you want to see involved in the sequels following the most highly anticipated super hero flick EVER? Respond in the comments section with ENTHUSIASIM! :)

I don't think the Avengers needs a summary because everybody knows about it!

pym as giant man can come into play. he uses a formula similar to banner's to make himself bigger (giant would be absurd). he also creates ultron and vision using technology similar to stark's. ultron goes bad, and the avengers sequel has its basic plot...

I don't think giant would be absurd as much as incredibly hard to put on the screen next to the rest of the Avengers. And Ultron HAS to be unique. They need to demonstrate that Stark isn't the only really really smart person out there, and that Hank Pym is capable of being fully independent, in certain degrees even more so than Stark. Ultron needs to be different to showcase his near invulnerability, and his comprehension to create the Vision, and scheme his disasterous plots of evil.

I think it would be difficult to add anybody with out subtracted somebody first. Over crowding the movie would diminish the overall product. Would you really want one of the main four losing screen time to make room for marginal characters?

i think we'll lose hawkeye, black widow & maybe the hulk & they'll be replaced by a couple of the following.

heroes

-hank pym
-vision
-wonder man

heroines

-wasp
-scarrlet witch(i would love to see this happen but i doubt it will)
-ms.marvel

I wasn't clear in saying the addition of more characters. Of course there would have to be subtractions lol. But unfourtionately marvel72, Whedon already said he has no desire to include Wonder Man, as as you said Wanda probably won't make it, but it is very possible if they do include the Vision and then make that whole thing between them happen. I'd personally love to see the following, eventually:

Hank Pym,
She-Hulk,
Captain Marvel,
Dr.Strange,
Wasp,
Vision,
and maybe even a storyline which exhibits the Sentry, but only as an addicted drugee with immense pshycotic problems (maybe the void taking over as the secondary villain in as tory with a villain like Kang the Conquerer, or Thanos)

I think we can expect to see Ms. Marvel, who's easily translatable, and the Pyms in future sequels. I could maybe see Black Widow exposed as a double agent somewhere down the line. The Russian connection could bring forth a modern day HYDRA and Winter Soldier in Cap sequels.

I'm sure Dr. Strange will have some affiliation as Marvel begin their "second wave".

Someone I'd WANT to see would be Captain Mahr Vehl. A military/SHIELD based human who's actually a Kree warrior?! Sounds ace!

Colson = Captain Mahr Vehl! That would be the greatest thing ever.

Could also be an explanation of the line "Commander Fury, its time" Watch the trailer, he is not saying it like a subordinate. Somebody posted on here that there is a mention of Captain Mar-vell in the movie. Maybe they explain that Colson is an alien working with Shield, and is the one that warns of the invasion. They don't need to show him as Mar-vell in this movie, just let you know he is an alien, and he can be Mar-vell in Avengers 2. It would explain why he has been so important in the movies too.

I hope we don't see Ant-Man and Wasp AT ALL.

I'm betting that we'll see a build up to Thanos.

This is how I'd do Avengers 2:

Hank Pym creates Ultron's to take over for the Avengers in facing global threats. He malfunctions and begins taking over the world, trying to gain not only the world communications but gathering the Infinity Gauntlet gems. The Avengers defeat Ultron but the gems are gone. Then it shows Thanos was the one who made Ultron malfunction and try to take over the world, Thanos wanted someone to keep the Avengers busy while he collected all the gems and the gauntlet. Now he has them and this would lead directly into Avengers 3.

Hank Pym and Wasp would be the logical step. I hope we get to see them on screen sooon

Black Panther, Pym, Wasp, Vision, and Ms. Marvel are the most realistic. By that I mean some characters would just feel to be repeats or silly, like She-Hulk and Wonder Man. I like the idea of Coulson becoming Vision. If Pym gets into the sequel he shouldn't be able to grow yet, just shrink, and aside from that be a brilliant scientific mind which could lead to Ultron, who kills Coulson and uses his brain patterns (rather than Simon Williams aka Wonder Man) in creating Vision. Avengers 2 could use this as their basis for a plot.

SHIELD draws them together after the brilliant scientist creates a self aware android that immediately went rogue upon activation and calls itself "Ultron". Initial efforts to capture/kill codename: Ultron have failed and resulted in the deaths of many SHIELD agents, including Agent Coulson, confirmed slain by Agent Hill but not recovered. This scene would be featured and maybe Cap, Hawkeye, and Widow could have some play in it too. In the attempt that cost Coulson his life a more sinister revelation is revealed, that Ultron seeks to annihilate all sentient life, not just on Earth, but in all the Universe and as a computer intelligence of his level, it's something he is capable of realizing. Avengers Assemble on the Helicarrier for briefing and end Act 1. I'm sure you see where it's going. Maybe compound it by revealing that Pym was building it at SHIELD's request as a means to take out super's if need be. Add that Pym Particles and his application of them allow the team to defeat Ultron and we get Pym, Wasp, AND Vision all in one aweseome flic. Avengers 3 for Masters of Evil!

Could Avengers 3 be the end of the 3rd phase? And if it is the Infinity gauntlet they could have everyone die pretty much- then using the gems at the end of the movie everything could be restored to an earlier date like nothing happened- but this would be the set up for a new reboot into a whole refreshed Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would they do something like that to deal with the aging actors? A legit way to reboot?
