Could the ending to the incredible hulk have been different to what we thought

So people familiar with the incredible hulk (film) will recognize this scene from the ending which we believed to be Bruce Banner gaining control over the monster within him ... or was it?

as we know the hulk/Bruce banner will appear in the upcoming avengers film and in the first issue of The Avengers, Loki attempted to wreak havoc by controlling the hulk which led to the avengers being formed, Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki in The Avengers film and *spoiler* we have seen from the post-credits scene that he will have the power of possessing mortals *spoiler over*

So could this mean that the ending to the incredible hulk is not what we believed, instead of Bruce Banner controlling the hulk, Could it be Loki possessing him.
The problem with this theory is that it could make sense either way as the hulk's eyes are green and Loki's magic is generally green also, as well as Bruce Banner gaining control of the hulk could make him smirk or Loki about to begin his schemes might give reason for the smirk.

I suppose we can only be sure when the avengers comes out.

I always thought it was Loki possessing him and it would make a lot more sense to have him going crazy and then Loki brings in an army of Skrulls to fight the Avengers. That would be the reason Nick Fury brings the team together. Just a note on a continuity detail: this scene must take place right before the Avengers because they said the Hulk will have facial hair and all of Mark Ruffalo's interviews right now when he is filming the Avengers show him with a goatee.

ITS POSSIBLE..THESE FILMS OVERLAP....

HALF WAY THROUGH IM2 AGENT COULSON LEAVES FOR NEW MEXICO(DISCOVERS CRATER CAUSED BY HAMMER)..

THE CULVER U INCCIDENT CLOSE TO THE END OF IM2 (ON A SCREEN IN THE BACKGROUND WHEN FURY TALKS TO STARK)....

STARK WAS CLEARLY AN AVENGER RERUIT @ THE END OF HULK(SPEAKS TO GEN ROSS IN BAR)..

AFTER HULK STOPS ABOMINATION HE FLEES TO CANADA..WE DONT KNOW EXACTLY HOW LONG ITS BEEN SINCE THE FIGHT WITH ABOMINATION..BUT ITS POSSIBLE THE THOR/ LOKI FIGHT IS OVER AND LOKI BEGINS TO MIND CONTROL CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS..DR SELVAG..BANNER..SELVG AND BANNER HAVE A CONNECTION..AND THAT SMIRK ON BANNER WAS VERY SIMILAR TO SELVAG WHEN LOKI HAS CONTROL OF HIM
ROBBEATZZZ
ROBBEATZZZ - 5/4/2011, 10:59 AM
ACTUALLY ..IN IM2 REMEMBER WHEN FURY TELLS STARK HE HAS A 2 O'CLOCK???..COULD HIS APPOINTMENT BE WITH DR SELVAG!??..OR IS IT THE CALL FROM COULSON ABOUT WHAT HE SEE'S IN NEW MEXICO?

I have another theory that could also connect the Hulk and Thor films. First off, the scene after the end credits of Iron Man 2, where Agent Coulson finds Mjolnir is most likely set after the scene where Nick Fury is debriefing Tony Stark about the Stark Expo incident and about the Avengers Initiative. During the Fury/Stark scene, theres news footage from Culver University about the Hulk incident. Assuming that it is already sometime after the incident, Hulk would have brought Betty to the cave hideout which is where (for those who remember) there was an unusual lightning storm around that time. My theory is that this is when Thor was banished to Earth by Odin assuming that all these time frames I've stated are correct.

YEA POSSIBLE MY ONLY THING ABOUT THE THUNDER STORMS IS THOR WAS BANISHED IN NEW MEXICO..HULK IN BETTY WERE ON THE EAST COAST.. ALONG THE APPALACHIANS..TO VIRGINIA..ACTUALLY IT WAS GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK IN N.CAROLINA

BUT YET AGAIN THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT A STORM CAUSED BY THORS BANISHMENT CANT EFFECT OTHER AREAS! LOL!

NO, it doesnt. You all just think WAY to much. That was suppose to be Banner gaining a slight control. At the begining, he was trying to control himself(temper for the most part) through the meditation, at the end we see him trying to control the hulk through the meditation.

IS ANYONE HERE CONCERNED WITH MARVEL THE SCREENWRITERS NOT EXPLAINING IN THE MOVIE THE REASON WHY BANNER LOOKS DIFFERENT IN TIH COMPARED TO WHAT WE WILL SEE IN AVENGERS?

WOULDNT IT BE APPROPRIATE FOR THE SCREENWRITERS TO EXPLAIN THAT HE LOOKS DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF THE EFFECT THAT THE CONSTANT HULKING OUT SEEMS TO CREATE ON BANNERS BODY? THEREFORE WHEN PEOPLE SEE BANNER IN HIS ORIGINAL FORM THEY MAY NOT RECOGNIZE HIM SINCE THEY MET HIM PREVIOUSLY WHEN HE LOOKED LIKE ED NORTON.

DOES ANYONE FEEL ME ON THIS? THIS WAY THEY CAN AT LEAST ATTEMPT TO KEEP SOME SORT OF CONTINUITY WITH THE LAST HULK FILM.

@ROBBEATZZZ-AFTER HULK STOPS ABOMINATION HE FLEES TO CANADA..WE DONT KNOW EXACTLY HOW LONG ITS BEEN SINCE THE FIGHT WITH ABOMINATION..

At the end of the movie where Banner is in the cabin and meditating just before the eyes turn green, the "Number of Days Without Incident" began at 30 days and dropped to zero when the green eyes occured so it's possible it has been a month after the fight scene with Abomination.

I said months ago that I thought Loki would (in some fashion) take control of Banner/TheHulk in TheAvengers.. I'm convinced that TheHulk will (at some point) be VIEWED/TREATED as a villain in TheAvengers.. It's Inevitable
ThePuzzler
ThePuzzler - 5/6/2011, 6:49 PM
It's not lokis eyes because it said days without incident

But I do think he's possessed by Loki because in the leaked avengers page (if it's real) banner has no control over the hulk

felixxx - 5/6/2011, 11:28 PM
"UMM....NO?"
Loki can influence a person with an evil mind but doesnt have the power to completely control them. Seeing how Banner isnt evil in any way, Loki has no control over his actions. On a comic side note, he has tried to control the hulk through Banner and he COULDNT make either one do what he wanted. He had to use his magic to take the beast out of Banner. Now im not saying he wont try somthing like that in the Avengers, but that scene at the end of the movie is not Loki. The Avenger tie ins are always after the credits and stand alone from the individual movies.

I kind of thought about this the very second that I saw the end of "The Incredible Hulk" in the theater... I'm glad that someone agrees with me, though.

How could anyone have thought that yet? Loki wouldn't make a film appearance for 3 more years and they had just started really getting going on the script.

No, they hadn't thought that far ahead. It is an obvious reference that he is more in control and likes it (especially after the helicopter jump scene).

THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT! Not when I watched the scene in 2008 in the movie theater watching Incredible Hulk. But when I was watching the scene after the credits of Thor with Loki and Slevik. I really want that smirking Banner to be Loki, bcause it makes perfect sense! Banner seemed so evil at the final frame, and neither Hulk or Banner were evil in the entire movie. I mean if it was Banner why would he want to have an evil look, and possible terrorize The Avengers later on; hoping he does. The Loki controlling the hulk storyline makes sense, so they need to do it in The Avengers movie to pay homage to original story arc.

BTW, shame on the editor of The Incredible Hulk, that frame should of been the last part in the movie, then the credits. I thought the Tony Stark bar scene would been much more suitable after the credits like the rest. His expression is so epic!!! Or Loki's expression ;)

I really dig these theories, guys. I never understood that sly look at the end of Hulk. What fun for a lifelong comic fan!

Wasn't there an Avenger's storyline early on with the team trying to subdue Hulk? I don't know how much I buy into them planning ahead to have Loki "controlling" Banner. However, I never thought the end scene was Banner learning to control Hulk, but rather it was him GIVING IN to Hulk. It was like, for so long he has had no control over his life and has been on the run. Finally, he doesn't have to anymore. This could be a setup for Loki using his control over Selvig to try and manipulate the situation, seeing as how Selvig has a clear tie to The Avengers now. I wholly suspect the first Avengers film will, at least in part, be about the team trying to subdue/recruit The Hulk.

Mmm that gives me a lot to think about now. I didn't think about it cause i didn't like that ending. I liked the one with him being in Antarctica.

Possible, but unlikely. Interesting theory though.
