This months issue of Prestige features an extremely in depth interview with actor Jeremy Renner. The interview takes place in the garden at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. Renner really opens up about his acting career, his love of renovating houses and his dislike of Hollywood in general.

Of course the portion of his life that we, as CBM fans, are interested in is anything and everything he could possibly have to say about his roll as Hawkeye in the highly anticipated film The Avengers.

Here is what he had to say concerning The Avengers (via FLAUNT.com)...

“I’m going to play Hawkeye in The Avengers. But that isn’t until next spring. There’s a really tremendous cast, really exciting. I just met up with [Robert] Downey [Jr.] and [Mark] Ruffalo and the director and had a good chat. There’s no script yet, so we’re all kinda curious, and we’re like, ‘What the hell is it we’re doing? How is it possible we’re going to have all these superheroes in this movie? But it should be really fun.

Oh, I would bet you it has a script but I don't think they have shown it to the actors yet. If you remember Portman and Hemsworth said they had not seen a script right up until Thor started shooting.

I'm sure they have enough of the script worked out for pre-production needs. The actors don't need to see it until later, after Whedon and Co. have had the time to fine-tune what is, admittedly, a very tricky story to tell. How WILL we fit all these super-heroes? By taking the time not to mess it up.

Why so defensive? Nobody said anything about DC on this board.

Didn't the head of Marvel tweet like a month ago that he had the first draft of the script in his hands?

Sweet find HAWKS! :) They really couldn't have picked a better actor for this role. I'm not too worried about the costume (as I like Mark Millar/Bryan Hitch Ultimate version) but here's hoping they get the personality right. 616 all the way for Hawkeye.

On a separate note, Iron Man 2 is finally out here on Monday and I cannot wait to take another look at it!

Teabag@ - how did you get a video of me dancing at Octoberfest last night?

I am sure there is some version of a script out there in some form. They are probably guarding it really tight since this is first time anything like this has been done. Dollars to donuts they won't let a single actor see the whole thing, only the parts they are in. Old man Lucas did that with all 6 Star Wars movies and I am sure others have done it also.
Jimdlux

They are probably waiting for Captain America to fail in the box office so they can scrap the whole thing and no one can say, "hey, why didn't they make it, the script was done". Look at the bright side, they already raped all the good Marvel films, it can't get worse...

There's probably a rough draft of the script, but it's not finalised yet. Too early. Captain America's still shooting and probably Whedon had the meet with them to get some input on how the characters would interact with one another. What better way to do that than getting Hawkeye, Iron Man and the Hulk together and having them chat with each other? Have faith, this movie will be epic.
SmokinIndo
SmokinIndo - 10/23/2010, 8:26 PM
Guys. There's definitely a script. And if there isn't one then it's in the finalizing stage. This just means that they're working hard to make the script into an excellent one.

ckal: I'm not surprised that Whedon disliked the script when it was written by Zak Penn - the same hack who gave us Fantastic Four and Elektra, lol! The news that Whedon was redoing it was probably the best I've heard because I had serious worries before that.

There is a Script it is just not done. Joss has been working on it since he got the job. For this movie he will have to pass each revision through the Studio for notes and sometimes discussions. Joss will take the time to do it right.

This project is perfectly on track.
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 10/24/2010, 5:49 AM
Josh Like you, I don't care too much about the costume as long as it isn't his first Ultimate costume (he looks like a personal trainer in that costume).

I am not worried about the script at all. I wouldn't doubt that part of the reason Marvel hired Whedon had to do with his proposed direction with the existing script.

HAWKS @ Agreed, hell I'd rather not see HAWKEYE wear a costume than use that horrible ULTIMATE one!

How hard is it to make a good looking HAWKEYE costume, of course it wont be exactly the same but something like the 616 classic one would be fantastic!

I mean, we have a God with a cape and viking hammer and helmet and a guy in a gold and red suit of armor and also a guy that turns green! Not to mention a guy wearing the red white and blue flag as a suit?

Who wouldn't wanna see WOLVERINE wear something like he wears in the comics instead of that PVC Adult kinky sex suit he always wears??

Maybe not in bright yellow and blue lol but you get where I'm going! ; P

LEEE: Personally, I always thought Wolvies brown and tan costume would be pretty adaptable to film if they went with slightly different shades of leather for the look.

This movie should be interesting if it comes down to emotional expression, and connection. It can't just be about action filled superpowers. That just takes away from the fun. Case and point, X3. Or worse, would be if they all meet up, there is a "story" then at the very end they all use their powers to stop the "bad" guy. You know, to show case their power and "teamwork" There has to be reason in these movies or they are just boring. Some of the cartoon movies, most I should say, capture a great vibe and character, but for some reason the movie business feels live action can't do the same.

@jimdlux - marvel's doing a stellar job with their movies so far imo. It's the marvel movies NOT made by marvel that are utter crap.

And the Wolverine costume would look horrible in real life.
