Lebron James As Captain America? Kobe Bryant As Iron Man? Kevin Durant As Thor?

What is going on today? If you think this is an April Fool's joke, you would be wrong!

I know, right! Lebron James as Captain America, come on MAN! Chris Evans is a way far superior athlete than James is. Ummm, no he's not, but when ESPN decides to show a little comic book love by comparing the biggest NBA stars to our favorite comic book heroes you have to compare it to an ugly woman. It's fun while it lasted but after it's all over you can't believe it just happened.

This from slashfilm:

'The November 1st, NBA Preview issue of ESPN The Magazine hits newsstands Friday and features Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and Kevin Durant as Iron Man, Captain America and Thor respectively. According to Mark Millar and Joe Quesada, the project was the brainchild of Marvel Executive Editor Axel Alonso and was brought to fruition by Rich Ginter and George Beliard.'

What do you guys think, could they have done better with the super hero comparisons?

Yeah, if Cap would have jumped ship during WWII, joined the Red Skull and the Nazi's. How can the biggest traitor on earth get Cap's Shield? This is the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen on this site, and I watched the Air Bender trailer here. Now I am just keeping my fingers crossed he will fall in the water and be frozen for 40 years.

I really don't see the point of this. Not the article but the actual comparisson. Marvel needs a better advertising gimmick.

Brashlight - 10/22/2010, 8:45 AM
If anyone is Cap its Durant the way he handles himself and how selfless he is. And Kobe can stay Iron man because surprisingly he is a very intelligent man and Lebron is Thor cuz he is a beast physically!

MOVIE AWARDS, JET1. Keyword being "MOVIE". There's a link there. Where as Marvel promoting their comics in sports mags has no link what so ever. Have you seen anyone on the CW being all dressed as GL corps members on any show that doesn't deal with holloween, the comics or their film adaptations? No. It's my right to hate gimmicks or whoreing out so don't tell me to ease up.

Cool ad, comic promotion is what's most important. Having said that, Lebron should have been Iron Man. Tony's always been a bit shifty in his loyalties.

Captain America should be some one who actually played for Team USA this year. So either give Durant the shield or remove LeDouche from the cover all together and replace him with Derrick Rose. Kobe isn't rich enough to be Tony Stark, that should have been Mark Cuban. As far as Thor I guess Durant is okay, he is the god of the Oklahoma Thunder after all :D.

Kes- IMO, yes every advertising in the stadium should be NFL related. Thats why they have commercial breaks, to advertise what's not NFL related. But then again, that's just my opinion which i'm alowed to have. I [frick]ing hate having to watch yeast infection cream adds when i watch a game. When commercial breaks happen, i know to look away.

I understand why many think that Kobe and Lebron should switch But when you Think about it Kobe is like Iron Man he has been through a lot and still does his Job Incredibly. In a sense Kobe has earned the Right to wear the Armour . Lebron I don't Blame him switching teams.
I am a Thunder Fan and Kevin Durant Is The God of Thunder to many of us:)So it seems all good to me.

To compare those "turds" to superheros is a real stretch. I don't know what a Kevin Durant is, and isn't Koby into peeing on girls or something, but the worst is Lebron as The Cap!!!! This dude is the opposite of him, loyal??? no, not even a little. If he was Cap then he'd be Hydra's top agent (providing they pay him a lot of money (it's a Cleveland thing).

The only one of those guys with any honor is Kevin Durant. Him, I respect. He had the chance to leave for greener pastures, but he chose to remain with an improving Oklahoma City team that is poised to be a real power in the Western Conference. He didn't want to leave because he likes the city, likes the fans, likes the team around them, and feels like they have a chance to finish the job and bring a championship to Oklahoma. LeBron could learn a lot from him about honor. I saw an interview with him right around the end of last season that was really inspirational and showed a level of class rarely seen amongh modern athletes.

The one they are missing is DWIGHT HOWARD as the HULK. He is the best big man in the game. Or he could be Thor, since he plays for the Magic.
