Marvel Studios Producer Confirms New Avengers Tower Owner WILL Be Revealed...Eventually

We still don't know who purchased Avenger Tower in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but a Marvel Studios executive has now confirmed that there are plans in place to share that information with fans...eventaully!

The mystery surrounding who owns Avengers Tower has been plaguing us since Spider-Man: Homecoming was released in 2017 (that's almost seven years for those of you keeping count).

In the movie, we learned Tony Stark had decided to sell the iconic landmark and all the removal of The Avengers' tech ended up being a key plot point in Peter Parker's battle with The Vulture. We thought answers were coming in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but the building has since been conspicuously absent from shots of New York City and the new owner's identity remains a mystery.

On the one hand, it's hard not to wonder whether Marvel Studios just wanted to move on from the Avengers Tower concept, turning it into just another New York skyscraper. On the other, rumours about the buyer continue to crop up online.

Over the years, everyone from the Fantastic Four to Mephisto has been mentioned, while there was a time when we expected Oscorp to potentially take charge of the building which once housed Earth's Mightiest Heroes (that fell by the wayside when Spider-Man: No Way Home confirmed Earth-616 has no Norman Osborn).

Talking to ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum was asked whether the question of "Who bought Avengers Tower?" will ever be answered.

"Yes," he stated. "Honestly, yes, you will."

With Echo and Daredevil: Born Again on the way, we can't help but wonder whether Avengers Tower will become Fisk Tower. It would be more than a little symbolic for Wilson Fisk to make the team's former headquarters his base of operations as New York City Major and a fitting location for a final battle with Spider-Man and Daredevil.

"I can't answer any of those questions," Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio previously said about the idea of his villain residing there. "Nobody's ever asked me that, though. I'm surprised you're, actually, now that you've asked, you're the first person that's ever asked me that."

Despite all the speculation surrounding Avengers Tower, it only really played a major role in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In that movie, Ultron attacked the team when he was first created and it was there we later got to witness the birth of The Vision.

In the comics, meanwhile, Avengers Tower was eventually destroyed in the pages of World War Hulk when the rampaging Green Goliath squared off with Iron Man in his Hulkbuster armour.

Stay tuned for updates.

@dracula - it at the very least has the same building plans.

@philinterrupted - Tony was selling plans for it if memory serves, least for the reactor powering it but the full basic building design wouldn't be too much of a leap (BTW fun fact Dr Who comics and annuals were published under licence by Marvel)

@harryba11zack - its bloody Brandon from comicbook.com, he keeps harrassing every single MCU actor/exec with this question for the last 6 years, even though its very likely going to end up being such a nothing answer.

Its so embarrassing when he keeps prodding these poor guys in interviews like its some gigantic secret they're hiding, even though they likely don't know themselves or again, even if they do know something that its essentially just nothing.

REVEALED

Can we do a whole movie about real estate transactions of this building? That would be fascinating.

I feel like it should be the Baxter building. It would be iconic to see the big Number 4 replace the iconic letter A.
StSteven
StSteven - 1/4/2024, 3:03 PM
@SonOfAGif - Same here. It would make perfect sense, especially if the plot of "F4" involves around them coming to the present time after being stuck in the negative zone in the past or something along those lines. They would need a headquarters and if Reed had money in the bank/investments back in the 60s he'd likely have a shitload now (at least enough to buy the building and fund his work).

Plus it opens up the possibilities for some fun jokes whenever the current Avengers team eventually meet the F4 at the building, like Rhodey complaining about how they turned his room into the kids' room or something along those lines. And obviously Reed would love the top 10 floors being all R&D, even if they did take a lot of the equipment to the Avengers' upstate compound. It almost makes TOO much sense.

The kinda plot point only people like DoubleD (Disney Dickriders) would care for...

Shit, it was more interesting discovering how Fury lost his eye and we all know how that turned out....

Keep your mf secrets.

I feel like too much time has passed for any answer to be satisfying and impactful. Any exciting candidate has been debunked one way or another.
Reed richards is probably coming from another universe.
Norman Osborn hasn't been seen yet in the sacred timeline and is probably in no position of power.
Fisk has lost a lot of his power since he had to rely on the tracksuit mafia and Eleanor bishop.
It probably won't be Qeng either since Kang is going to be sidelined.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 1/4/2024, 5:05 PM
@MCUKnight11 - I kinda got the sense the Tracksuit mafia and the Bishop's security firm were only very small parts of his empire and likely already had the cops in his pocket too to be so brazen to take things into his own hands in public. I get the sense at the very minimum he controlled ALL organised crime in NYC and Echo's bunch likely the lowest tier of all of that otherwise he would have been way more hands on and in the loop as to what was going on (ie be a big part throughout not a relatively small cameo towards the end).

@ModHaterSLADE - Thunderbolts is basically your Dark Avengers project, with Val and President Ross instead of Norman Osborn. They're just using the Thunderbolts name.

Maybe they'll do a real Thunderbolts movie some day and call it Dark Avengers.

We don't care anymore
RealTurner
RealTurner - 1/4/2024, 8:01 PM
@KaptainKhaos - We don't matter. It isn't that general audiences don't care; it's that they've forgotten this was ever a thing and wouldn't rememeber even if prompted. "Quick I have to see this movie because Fury was using a pager to call Captain Marvel at the end of the last movie I saw!" helps make you 1 bill. "Quick I have to see this movie because it will finally explain who purchased Avenger's Tower in that movie 7 years ago" said no one ever.

Either kingpin, doom, or its the new baxter building. That's my top guesses.

I dont remember what the canon was on it no longer being owned by the Avengers. Wasnt it in the first Spiderman? Seem like it should still be owned by Stark Enterprises. Like why wouldnt the Avengers still have the need for it? Especially when the compound is rubble.
CerealKiller1
CerealKiller1 - 1/4/2024, 3:45 PM
@AvalonX - The whole plot point of it being in the first Spider-Man was that it was being sold and Happy was loading the contents of the building onto the plane that Spidey saves….
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 1/4/2024, 4:55 PM
@AvalonX - there's probably some tax benefit or something to be gained by pawning it off as Stark Industries while licensing it to the Avengers, to another Stark owned subsidiary with a New Avengers license. Could be

@CerealKiller1 - Right, I just didnt think it was ever intended to be some big reveal.
