The Avengers No Longer Planning To Film Scenes In Detroit!

Despite previous reports that Marvel would be assembling The Avengers in Detroit as well as New Mexico and Los Angeles, it has now been confirmed that they will in fact not film there...

Many thanks to RealIrOnMaN for the heads up on the following information.

"The Avengers" -- a big-budget Marvel superhero film featuring Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and others that was to be partially shot here this summer -- has already decided it won't be filming in the state, several people with connections to the film told the Free Press.

The "Avengers" story echoes the buzz spreading through the local film industry that projects wanting to come here are either holding off on their plans or changing their locations to another state.

"The Avengers" decision is an early – and high-profile – example of incentive supporters’ fears becoming reality.

"They were all set to come here," said Chris Baum of Film Detroit, a division of the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau. When producers couldn't get confirmation that they would still qualify for the incentives, they decided to pull out of the state, Baum said.

The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!

Damn.. As much as I want this movie to work I just don't think it will. They'll have to many characters squeezed in and it'll just be a massive cluster[frick]. :(

If you get the chance, Check out my James Bond: MOONRAKER fancast ^^^

They will have to make this movie at least 4 hours long. How do you fit something so big into something so small? The same question I am faced with everytime i put on underpants.

@ mrmurdock

i don't think its got too many characters to f*ck it up,if you look x-men 2 that had a alot of characters & that worked just fine.

personally not a fan of fox x-men films but x-men 2 was definetly the best & had some cool moments.

Iron Man
Hulk
Cap A.
FUry
Maria Hill

Hawkeye
Black WIdow

I dont think thats alo at all especially considering that about 4 in that list (hulk THor IM, CAP A) are probably gonna be our main avengers, we shall see. I trust Marvel Productions, they havent gone wrong yet

too many characters seriously there a [frick]ing team how many people should it be 2, or something. The main reason behind picking wheadon is the dude knows how to work with ensemble cast, yeah buffy might have been the main character of the show but it was also about her friends and family was it not that worked out fine, and so did firefly. And honestly black widow, fury and all the other SHIELD characters won't be the main focus of the movie. People need to stop worrying so much and relax, if people like nolan and wheadon can't make a good movie with a big cast I doubt any one will.

It's a shame for Detroit, but it won't effect the movie too much I would imagine. I've recently had a few concerns about The Avengers (will everyone get enough screentime, etc, etc) but I have faith in Joss Whedon to deliver. I'm just glad that it's not Favreau directing. I love his movies, but he showed that an ensemble cast isn't his string point with Iron Man 2.

Just look at Joss Whedon's movie Serenity. It was a fun ride with lots of characters who had plenty of time to develop. I know the show was out before hand but me and a lot of other people didn't see it until after watching the movie. H also worked on tv shows that used practical and digital effects and had a limited budget, so he will know how and what effects to use in a smart way. I think this is some of the reasons he was chosen to direct and write the film.

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!!!!!

@sweep When The Avengers comes along, the main thing will be the team dynamics and clash of egos...that doesn't have to be 4 hours long.

There's not that many characters in this film. The SHIELD Agents will most likely have supporting roles aka limited screen time while the core (Iron, Cap, Thor, Hulk) will get the bulk of the screen time with Hulk to a lesser extent depending on the plot.

they should do the movie like Lord of the Rings, (back 2 back) so thay way people won't age as bad and then a bigger story can be fit into it.

I think it was a bad choice anyways. How would you explain the Bronze Robocop statue in some of the scenes?
