April Start Date for Third Batman Movie Filming in New Orleans

CBM has learned that Christopher Nolan's next Batman movie will start in April and that New Orleans is the WB's favorite filming location for their super hero films.

The Green Lantern movie just wrapped in the Big Easy, and so the city must have an appeal for the movie studio.

The next couple years are once again proving that this is indeed the golden age for comic book movies. Other CBMs underway include:

  1. X-Men: First Class currently shooting in London
  2. Captain America: The First Avenger is in London now as well.
  3. Cowboys & Aliens is well into filming in New Mexico
  4. Men in Black III filming on October 18 in New York
  5. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance shooting November in Romania and Turkey.
  6. The Spider-Man reboot, taking place in LA in December
  7. The Avengers, supposedly shooting in February, also in Los Angeles.
Coming along, but with no set dates yet, are the new Superman movie and Wolverine 2.

Stay tuned to ComicBookMovie.com for many updates on these films over the next two years!

Huh. The first 2 were principally shot in Chicago, right? I wonder if the change is just for cost reasons or for story reasons.

the city goes nuts whenever there's filming here... transformers 3 may suck, but its awesome to watch them light up the skyline and wacker drive. Its gonna be tougher to hide filming for the 3rd in chicago this time around.

This is exciting, i may try and see if i can catch some filming going on.

@Hawk, yeah i agree. Things are looking better and better over there. I was there last weekend just walking around and people were everywhere. Most of the shops downtown are all open... you still see vacants on the side of the interstate as you enter. But things are looking better.

probably shooting there to save money, a few years ago louisiana started offering tax breaks to studios that made movies in the state to help out our horrible economy, since then a lot of movies have been shot in louisiana

Grizzly is correct. Starting several years ago (BEFORE Katrina, if memory serves), Louisiana has offered generous tax incentives to shoot films here, which has led to a booming film industry. People here are also generally pretty laid back when they encounter celebrities, which is why quite a few of them have homes here. They can go out to eat or go shopping and not be mobbed or harassed. It's just how people here are(I've got stories, but they're too long for here). This leads to a lot of stars wanting to shoot films here also, which just sweetens the pot.

I just hope that if they're shooting the new Batman film around New Orleans, they do some of the filming near my work, like Green Lantern did. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for that, and will get pics of whatever I can to share with everyone here.

I wish they would stay in Chicago. Illinois really needs the jobs, and i really wanted to watch some of the shoots, because i live about 3 hours away from Chicago, and i didn't get to see any of the first two.
