BATGIRL Set Video Gives Us A First Look At Brendan Fraser As The Villainous Firefly

Another video from the Glasgow set of Batgirl have found its way online, and this time we have a first glimpse of Brendan Fraser (Doom Patrol) filming a scene as the villainous Firefly (sans costume).

Cameras are still rolling on HBO Max's Batgirl movie in Glasgow, Scotland, and this latest video from the set gives us a first glimpse of Brendan Fraser (Doom Patrol, The Mummy) as Firefly.

Though there was some uncertainty surrounding Fraser's role in the film when his casting was first announced, it's since been confirmed that he is indeed playing the villainous Garfield Lynns. We're still not sure how the character will be introduced or what connection he'll have to Leslie Grace's Barbara Gordon, but if this video is any indication, it looks like he will be based on the sociopathic pyromaniac who was introduced post-Crisis on Infinite Earths.

The footage shows Fraser calmly strolling across the street as smoke billows from a building behind him. Towards the end of the shot, he turns around, seemingly admiring his handiwork. Lynns is not in costume here (obviously), but we assume he will suit-up at some point in the movie.

Batgirl will also star J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, and Jacob Scipio in an undisclosed role (recent set photos indicated that he will be a friend of Batgirl's). It's also been confirmed that Michael Keaton's Batman will appear.

Loki composer Natalie Holt recently announced that she's signed on to work on the movie's score, while Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and also worked on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the most recent draft of the script.

The HBO Max movie is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. No release date has been announced.

So J.K Simmons is returning as Jim Gordon with Michael Keaton's Batman taking over for Affleck? Why not have gone with a Batman Beyond show instead?

@SonOfAGif - Not sure they could afford them for a full show, but yeah a Batman Beyond movie would be better.

Although there would be no reason to have JK in that

probably early in the movie before he suits up

Wonder if killer moth is in it, he was the one who brought Firefly into the supervillain business in Batgirl year one

Brendan Frasier has been in some of the worst movies to ever be committed to film and I will happily follow his career like a love sick school girl to my dying day.

Joss Whedon probably pulled out of this because Brendan Frasier is fat.

@GarthRanzz - I heard he pulled out of Batgirl because he didn't want to get her pregnant.

The more I see from this, the more I want to see this on the big screen. Probably means we have to wait until next year, but so be it
