In a recent interview with ConTV, Bruce Timm spoke about the upcoming DC animated film Batman: The Killing Joke. The Killing Joke is a 1988 graphic novel that tells the story of the Joker's origins while tragedy befalls a member of the Bat-Family. It was announced in 2015 that DC would create an animated film version of the graphic novel and that Bruce Timm would be the Executive Producer on the project.

In the interview Timm reveals that the film will include original scenes to add enough story for a complete film. Could this mean that they added in Harley Quinn? Timm also revealed that the film will be premiering at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. What do you think about The Killing Joke having new scenes? Are you excited to see the graphic novel in animated form?

If this was anyone else I'd be like "Noooo!!!! Arghhh!!!!"

But it's Bruce Timm.
He got this.

My bet is on HarleyQuinn being added into the mix.
Remember, Harley was inserted into a pretty faithful adaptation of both The Killing Fish and Joker's Five-Way Revenge, in her very first appearance.

I really can't wait for this.

I'm hoping they push for a small cinematic run, before releasing the film on Blu-Ray. It would most certainly make it's money back if they start taking pre-orders. Especially with BvS and Suicide Squad fresh in the minds of theatrical audiences.

We need more from the Gods and Monsters universe. That movie was DC's best since Flashpoint Paradox. More of the unique, original ideas please!

Nice, I figured that they would need to add some additional scenes. I can't wait, as long as they stay close to the source and include the key moments, I'll be happy.

Nice, The Killing Joke is such an awesome comic. I'm really looking forward to this, hopefully they stick as close to the source material as possible

I just hope that the look of animation will stay somewhat loyal to the graphic novel, don't use the same animation they used for the recent Son of Batman, Batman: Bad Blood etc.

It would be hard not to add any additional scenes

I'm just hoping it doesn't have that shitty anime animation style they've been using on everything post 'The Dark Knight Returns' adaptation. They should match the animation style to Brian Bolland's art style.

I know that with certain stories that WB has adapted, they try to recapture the look of the original artwork as best they can. I wonder if they can recreate the very specific look of Brian Bolland's artwork. Also, this is most densely NOT a PG story. Will they go for a PG-13 rating?

My favorite comic ever I have a full sleeve tattoo with comic stuff and the killing joke cover is the biggest part of it.

I’m thinking the added scenes will be action scenes. The Killing Joke is not filled with a lot of action, it’s very story driven, lots of dialog. I hope they use every line from the graphic novel.

Hope it's dark like the book.

Add scenes...I wonder if Harley Quinn will be added, like she was in the animated episode adaptation for THE LAUGHING FISH.
